Thanks for the welcome aboard!
Hello all. The name is Mike Turner. I'm about as new as they come in the RV world. By way of back ground, I'm a 30 year retired navy guy, serving from 1957 thru 1987. Primarily in fixed wing naval aviation attack and VAQ squadrons. Spent a lot of time at Whidbey Island in Washington state at the naval air station here and even more in Japan where I spent nearly 25 years combined military and federal civil service time. Primarily at NAF Atsugi, about 25 miles southeast of Tokyo. As a matter of fact I often refer to my rig as a camping car wich is the term the Japanese use for RV's there. My Japanese bride of 52 years ( We married in Tokyo back in 1963 ) has named it "Hachi-bei" as a matter of fact. The name taken from a character in a popular samurai TV drama.
He loves to travel, eat and drink sake! Seemed appropriate to her. We are both cancer survivors, so Hachi-bei is kind of our "bucket list" dream vehicle to chase the sun from time to time. We've never owned a "camping car" before but last year on the spur of the moment and fed up with needles and doctors we rented a Cruise America thor 19G and took off for yellowstone park. We had so much fun that we decided we were going to purchase a used unit from them. It was just by the quirk of fate that two months ago here on Whidbey we came across a 2014 winnebago trend with under 5000 miles that was available to us. The owner, who was ex-navy was headed over sea's for a "high dollar" job and had to sell. By luck of the draw I was first in line and was able get the deal done.
So today here she sits in my driveway. I'm reading everything i can get my hands on and coming across this site seems like a great deal. Glad to be aboard, and thanks! Hope to learn a lot from you folks!

Welcome aboard!! And, thank-you for your service. Remember, there are no "stupid" questions - ask anything you want and you'll get an answer. At least, you'll get an opinion!
