Unique situation for some Newbies!!

Greetings,

I feel like my story is a little bit different than many of the introductions i have read so I was hoping that someone might be able to chime in to offer some advice.

My partner and I are in our mid-40's and we are still working full-time. We will probably be working full- time for another 20 plus years but our jobs are unique. We are both flight attendants for different airlines and we have each been flying for a little over 20 years. We currently live in Las Vegas and we are both based in Los Angeles for work.

We have not yet purchased an RV but we are getting close. The nature of our job allows us to live anywhere and in order to get to work, we just have to take a flight to our base. We can transfer bases as needed and we can pick up trips from other bases so we have a lot of flexibility and full-timing should be realistic for us while still maintaining our full-time jobs.

The biggest question we have is about where to purchase and register our RV. I have read about the Texas, Florida, South Dakota options. I know about the whole Montana LLC loophole. I just wonder if there are any other options that might really help us as we get started. For example; Buying an RV in New Hampshire where we have property and no Sales or Income tax, but then officially "moving' to Florida during the window when a vehicle is old enough to not be hit for Sales tax when brought into the state. I'm not really looking to do anything that is illegal or tax evading, but knowledge is power and I will take advantage of anything I can.

Changing our permanent address for us is a few clicks on the computer due to the nature of our job. The company doesn't care where we live as long as we somehow get to our base for assignment. Easier than someone with a desk job who might have difficulty justifying why they are registering a car in Montana when they physically go to work in Arizona.

Long-winded. Sorry!! Just looking for some other options that might apply to our situation. Where are my new creative friends?

We should be full-time and on the road by next summer or fall. Hope to meet many of you.

Brian

Welcome and an interesting plan. I am not sure I can help you. We do use Florida as our residency as we own NO physical home in the US.

Good luck

Good to hear folks making a good living, concidering going full time !
I'm not a full timer.
Really worrying sometimes see'ing what's filling up some RV parks! I didn't spend this much money on an RV to live in the slums.

Welcome to IRV2. Check out RV.org. They rate RVs and have information on the selection and dealing process. Good RV hunting.

Brian,
Make sure you look into the registration fees for out of state vehicles.
We moved here from IN and were socked by them, can;t remember exactly how much they were, but it was not insignificant, and I believe it's based on vehicle value.
It's not a sales tax, as we'd owned all our vehicles for at least 18 months.
