Wanna talk winter?

We plan to live in our travel trailer for the winter in the North carolina mountains where we are building our home. Does anyone have any suggestions on the prep I should consider to stay warm and prevent frozen pipes? Is using my fresh water tank safer than being connected to city water? Thank you..

Full skirting. Radiant heat for waste water plumbing if skirting isn't holding back freezing temps. A remote thermometer to monitor that area. The shortest hose that you can make up from your well water hose bib, covered with foam pipe insulation. Learn how to drip water during sub 32 degree nights to prevent your hose from freezing up. City water is OK if the water shore water line is electrically traced and insulated and your potable water hose is also. I would buy a quiet oil bath electric heater to minimize propane consumption (used one on our fifth wheel trailer while winter camping in Lake Tahoe, California to augment our electric fireplace plus use one on our motorhome since it is quieter than our heat pump and keeps from running the propane heater).

Glad you mentioned skirting. We may be spending the winter in west Texas. Last winter was fairly mild but the one before that was pretty bad. Considering RV skirting for our Vilano 39 foot fiver.

Skirting seems to be varied and can be expensive. The inflatable ones look easy to set up but expensive. Any recommendations?
