Wannabe from Texas

I've been lurking around this forum for a while, and thought it is probably about time for introductions. My wife and I live in Alvin,TX with our 5 children. We have always loved travelling, and recently started casually researching RV options for our large family. We are looking at both class C RV's and travel trailers, but are not committed to either option. I am a sailor that, for years, has been trying (unsuccessfully) to drag my family out on distant waters. My parent's adventures in their National Tradewinds motor-home has sparked a shared interest in exploring new territory via land.

Welcome, my advice is to go to PPL on the south side of Houston just off beltway 8 at Hwy 59 and browse the consignment RV's repeatedly, it will give you a good feel for what is out there, and what poor build quality looks like a few years down the road. Best of all PPL will not hassle you while you look around, though you do have to fill out their questionnaire before they will let you on the lot.
