Hi. I've been following several RV forums, blogs, and YouTube channels for several years. I just found this site and really like that it is wide reaching and very current, unlike some forums where the newest post is months old. I look forward to reading through the site and gaining as much info as I can.

My plan is to go full time when I retire in about 10 years. I'm undecided on Class A, Class C, or van. Have ruled out trailers.

We started out wanting a Class A and wound up with a fifth wheel after a smaller travel trailer to test the waters. They all have their pluses and minuses. Good luck on your journey!

10 years ?!? now that's what I call good planning

start working toward it by putting a bit away each month and you can pay cash for that new tachyon powered self-driving flying RV !!!

or why wait... get your rv now, save the cost of a house or apartment and be ahead of the game !

I would do it in a second if I were younger - and many have !

Leslie;

I believe you have found the friendliest RV site on the internet. There is a wealth of information available to you here just by asking. Don't be afraid to ask as our members like to help when they can.

From personal experience I would encourage you to get a head start on finding the right RV before you retire. I owned 3 coaches before I retired. I now have found the coach my DW and I love to travel in. We do not fulltime because my DW wants to be near our grandchildren for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, & Graduations etc.

Enjoy the forums;

Don

My plan is to get a sub 10K beater in the next 3-5 years; to use on weekends and summer, and all school holidays (I'm a teacher). Who knows? I may find a good deal on a vintage mh that will last me many years!

We thought we wanted a class c to vacation in with our Great Danes and looked at a few at some rv dealership's until my wife found a used Winnebago class A that was 18 years old very low miles and gently used ,we got it at a price we could afford and plan on using it until there's nothing left and then we'll get another gently used one !! So take the plunge you only live once

I am right there with you Leslie...
Eventually i have to narrow it down from A, C and even B. One week i am dead set on a diesel pusher and then the next I am thinking how cool it would be to have a B. I plan on renting a C and maybe an A and seeing if i prefer one over the other. After I narrow the class down, then i will start narrowing down the maker..

I am anxious to make the purchase but not in a super hurry to make my mind up.

I'm even considering doing a cargo van conversion and/or cargo trailer!

There are some nice conversion videos of such on youtube but that is way more work than i feel comfortable doing right or doing at all. I did spend a lot of time checking out Dodge Promaster 2500 high top cargo vans. But even if i went that direction, i would hire someone to finish the inside to my specs just to get it done NICE and RIGHT.. I suppose if i had the time, it would be a nice project during retirement but i hope to get my rig 5 years before retirement, fix it up the way i want it so the day after i call it quits i am on the road. (if not before then since i work from home anyway).
