Wannabe rookie

Glad to soon be joining the herd. I've been doing tons of research about brands, layouts and size. But, biggest question I have is about pricing. Looking at a Outdoors Black Rock 18DB. What is fair market value in the Oregon area? Do all dealers really mark-up 30%. All help and suggestions welcome.

I would suggest if you have picked the model you want and know what accessories you would like to add you could get a list of dealers from the manufacturer and contact several to see what they would charge.

We did not mind travelling to our dealer.

If you are happy with your local dealer and they have a good reputation for support after the sale it may be advantageous to pay a few dollars more for the peace of mind.

Welcome and good luck in your search. Do shop around and do not feel bad about playing one off the other. We shopped nationwide, got our best deal 1500 miles away, told our local dealer we found a great price and we were going to take a trip to get it. 5 hours later he called and matched the price.
