Smile Wet behind the ears newbie here in Michigan

We just bought a 26' Forest River Grey Wolf (26DBH)

We have 4 kids and two dogs that will be coming with us. We picked it up to be able to get away and bring out 4 legged family members.

Kids range from 2-13 yo. Decided on new based on price and warranty. I heard you can write off the interest on the loan as a second home too!

Towing with a 2500HD Silverado. Have boated extensively in the past, so hopefully my experience there will help be prepared for these adventures.

Dr G,

Welcome to the forum from another MI resident. This is a great place to ask questions and get answers.

Just a suggestion, but get both a water filter for your white hose and a pressure regulator. Why you ask? CG's (camp grounds) are notorious for high water pressure that can damage your plumbing and the water is not always clean and can make a mess in your system. These can be picked up at Walmart fairly cheaply and will save a lot of problems. Before I hook my hose up I always run the water for a while in case there is something in the line.

Also try RVParky.com for good camping info. State Parks can also be a good place to visit and stay fairly close to home. This is a great way for the family (including the furry ones) to be together.

Good luck and have fun.

To the IRV2 Family....

You should get more use out of the RV than the boat. Fact we camped in Dec. this year. Normally we shoot for Thanksgiving Weekend. (NE. Ohio)

Thanks for the tip. I have a pressure regulator but was wondering about a filter. I will pick one up on my next trip.

Tomorrow I am going to the dealer to check her out and take some measurements.

I'm actually going to return their starter kit the dealer sold me. It had a plastic pressure regulator and a maybe 10 waste tube and some other items, but I found out if I buy them separately, for just a few dollars more I can get better quality parts. I picke up a brass one at Walmart and the water filter suggested by beamisl. Thanks!

It had a 5 gal bucket (I have some at home already) the cheap pressure reg and waste tube, a 30A adapter for household current, a 4 pk of TP and a 25' potable water hose and a few samples of the packets for holding tanks and some gloves for $60.

Been reading numerous threads about using non-RV TP. Jury is still out on that but seems like if you use plenty of water and check to see how it breaks apart you may be OK. Just flush, flush, flush and backwash the tank if possible when dumping.

She made it home yesterday

Towed great. Started to load it up with supplies. Going to make a dry run in it in the driveway in a few days to get used to everything.
