Here anyways. Been around rv's most of my life and work in the industry. Today I am going to get my new-to-me rig.
Since I'm a single female who will be traveling alone some, decided on a class C. Feel safer driving them or riding as the passenger. Originally intended to find one under 25 foot, but... the draw of a queen sized walk around bed was just too much of a want. We want what we want, right?
What's an extra 2 foot off the butt? haha
And as funds are limited (I did just recently sell my stix n brix house, woot!), went with a slightly older model. No financing, paying cash, and just over a third of my stash of $$ left over from sale of home.
Actually, saving money is a biggy for me, and why I chose to buy a depreciating asset over keeping a house. Kinda doesn't make sense, but it does to me. Would have a paid for 'home' that I can put anywhere. House had a mortgage, taxes, insurance, maintenance, repairs, etc. All of that did not give me the joy it should have, so what's the point? My husband died of cancer at the young age of 40, and my only child is grown and moved out. Who needs all the space for one person, especially all the crap that goes with the somewhat dubious honor of being called a home owner.
Well my friends, today I will yet again have the honor of being called a homeowner. But, this one will be paid in full.

You're only car break down? You aren't stranded. (+10 points if you get a bike and ditch the car) Detest with every fiber of your being mowing the yard in 100 degree weather?? No problem. Downsizing, simplifying and getting rid of stuff, a perfect solution. Lose your job (which actually happened to me earlier this year), no worries, you don't have someone taking away the roof over your head for missing mortgage payments, and would have the luxury of turning on the key and driving to where there is work.
Have a week long trip coming up in a few weeks and will be going solo. It's in another state, a good test to myself on driving, maneuvering, setting up, testing out the comfort, and seeing if I can live in it full time. I live in a house right now, but don't know for how long. Might be full timing it out of necessity in the future. Best of both worlds as I can test out the rig and outfit it with my needs [moderator edit]. Would love to be full timing on the road, but ... yeah, still gotta figure out the job thing. The one I have now is gravy, and I live cheap enough I can save a lot of my income. So, current plans for now will be to continue living
cheap, while taking as many mini trips as possible, and sock away cash.
