Your Northern Cousin "Canada"

We are not new to RV'ing, we've had a camper in truck are now enjoying a 5th wheel, but are looking at a new motorhome "gas" for future.
Seeing as Ford is the only chassis in new Class A's, and only had GM's, I need info on the 2011 V10 Ford engine, auto transmission, and chassis with their pros and cons in a unit having the 22K, 24K & 26K Ford chassis.
Looking forward to future discussions with interest.

One of the important things to be aware of is the Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) of a motorhome a particular chassis, along with the towing capacity (if you plan towing). Saving a few bucks on a lighter GVW chassis to overload it because of the "stuff" you need to carry is probably not a good plan. Having said that the bad news is that different chassis from the same vendor are not usually an option. You can option between a Ford or Workhorse, which going one way or the other may give you a higher GVW therefore more CCC and towing capacity, for a particular model and floorplan.

Thumbs up Welcome

Hello ON, welcome to iRV2. This is our second MH with a FORD engine.
Like Spike wrote, watch that CCC. Now I have the 18 chassis and have to watch our CCC . The engine has plenty of zip here in the Mountains in BC for this chassis.

WELCOME

We have a 35 ft Class A on the 22,000 lb chassis and our wet weught is less than 18,000 lbs so we have lots of NCC. We tow a Pontiac G 6 and no problems at all. We have the older 310 HP version with the 4 speed tranny and have never had a problem. The newer models with the increased HP and tourque should be great for a MH of this size.
