just recently the posts made in one forum are ALSO being added to another forum. Is this deliberate, or do we have a glitch??
EXAMPLE : the post I made in WCMC forum immediately appeared ALSO in MH-Problems..... forum, and I did not put it there.

Ed,
Thanks for noticing the extra exposure of the thread.
I think what you may be referring to is a new feature that recently was made available to our moderators and administrators that allows a link to an existing thread to be placed in another forum. If the thread you used for your example has a arrow inside a small box at the left of the topic's title in the MH - Problems, Solutions & After Market forum, then it's there because a moderator felt other members who may not visit the WCMC forums may get informational value from your post by having a link to it in an area they frequent.
Additionally, these linked threads will have a "Related Content:" notation at the top of the thread that indicates where the link is located.
This isn't a glitch and requires proactive involvement from a moderator or administrator to occur. Actually, the thread is not duplicated, it still resides in it's original forum and any subsequent responses are captured and are available from wherever it's accessed. Previous to this enhancement we were only permitted to copy or move a thread. When a thread was copied to another related forum, subsequent posts would be fragmented, depending on which copy the member posted to.
I think it's a good enhancement and will increase the value of iRV2 to our members.
As inferred above, the rationale to linking is to increase a threads exposure thusly increasing the numbers of viewers and posters to a topic.
I hope this answers your question and again, thanks for asking.

HITCHHIKER : Richard, thanks for your explanation, and yes the rational does make sense. I just need to develope the ability to remember the "subject" better so I don't reopen the same thread in multiple forums

I can't say that I'm exactly thrilled with this feature. It was bad enough when some individuals posted the same topic under several headings- now we will have this done either automatically or by the moderators?

Point taken, we'll keep an eye on the results and effectiveness of placing these links.
As a side note, there have already been numerous additional posts and views to threads posted in the Owners' Corner section from members who normally don't hang out in those forums. The assumption is that this additional exposure and participation may not have been made if the original thread wasn't linked to an area visited more frequently by others.
Again, we'll monitor feedback on this issue and continue evaluating its usefulness and impact on members' overall site utilization. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi All,
I think this feature is good and makes sense it a lot of post, but I am not sure it will work in the Region section. I posted today under the Dixie Region Spring Rally, and it showed up also in the Nor'Easter, Mid-Atlantic and Florida Region's! Just my 2 cents worth !

Another point taken.
Rationale on this one was that the Appalachian Campers' Spring rally thread was linked in the Nor'Easter, Mid-Atlantic and Florida Region's forums as an effort to let those folks in those regions have more exposure to the information on this event; hopefully more of them would accept the invitation and attend.
Maybe you're right and it's too much exposure?
