Emissions Forum?

Not sure if this is the right place to suggest this, but I think it would be helpful to have a forum for Diesel Emissions (SCR/DPF/DEF) related issues as well as rules and regs, legislation, repairs etc.

There’s a lot of emissions specific stuff going on and it would be helpful if it was all in one place. This also affects all the engine/chassis mfgrs so it doesn’t really fit in one forum such as a Freightliner etc.

Thanks,
Rich

Each state is different with what is required by law for Smoke Tests also called Diesel Emissions.
So any information I provide will only be valid, if you live in the NORTH EAST.

The Cummins engine forum covers a lot of that and the DEF systems are installed by the coach manufacturer so each can be brand specific.

Well speaking of the North East, New Hampshire is a state I’m very interested in. I know they have annual safety inspections and from the following I think I can infer that they don’t test diesel emissions on vehicles over 8500 gvwr:

1996 and newer model year light-duty gasoline-fueled passenger vehicles (8500 GVWR and less) and 1997 and newer model year light-duty diesel passenger vehicles (8500 GVWR and less) must have an OBD test as part of the inspection process.

Texas only requires an annual safety inspection for motorhomes, travel trailers and fifth wheels along with proof of liability insurance. The annual safety inspection and proof of insurance is required to obtain the annual vehicle registration stickers.

Diesel powered vehicles are exempt from emissions testing --> https://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/vi/ins...nCriteria.aspx

The Texas Safety Inspection items are "standard stuff" for motorhomes --> https://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/vi/ins...nCriteria.aspx

The inspection items for travel trailers and fifth wheels are also "standard stuff" --> https://www.irv2.com/forums/f62/emis...ml#post5600658
