as long as users don't share a password across other sites, it shouldn't be much of an issue though. Hope they do daily backups though. not really any of our problems though.

Are you addressing Janet or me? I have no connection to the moderation or administration of any SK site.
SK's web sites are largely run by folks who volunteer or receive small stipends for the time they put in. Moving dozens of sites and training the moderation/admin staff of each and every one in the new software features and procedures is not an exercise in minimalism.
That all said, I'd LOVE to see a way for the OP to label post #1 as "RESOLVED, see (link here) for what worked!" Others could continue the thread if they liked, and nobody would be prevented from other suggestions or submitting their success or failure story.
