How to reply to a PM when...

they don't receive pm's ?

Traxless sent me a pm asking for some info,
I did some research and typed out a reply and when I hit send it said something to the effect, he cannot receive PM's ?!?

Why does the forum let him SEND PM's if he can't receive responses ? that's silly !

Any way to get some info to him if I can't find the thread he was talking about?
(I did add it as a profile comment, but he may not know it's there nor see it !)

Hate for another user to think I just ignored him !!!

Each member selects whether to receive pm's or not. I suggest you try again.

Retrying won't help - I can't respond to him to tell him I can't respond

Just saying it seems logical that you should consider not allowing someone to SEND one if they can't receive one.

As I said above, each member decides how they wish to send and receive pm's. If you don't care to try again , move on.

jeeze thanks for the curt response Cliff !
My software customers are usually responded to differently

Trying again if it's still turned off does nothing
just trying to give the software people a way to improve the site

Sorry you feel my response was " curt". I never said the other members pm's we returned off. I suggested you try again , however you choose not to, so I suggested you move on.

Maybe the sender doesn't know his PM function is turned off. Not really my business , but you could post a short message, to that effect, to him in the public forum.

I just sent a pm to Traxless and it went through. All members have the option to "ignore " other members. This would prevent a pm from going through ( I believe ) . This sometimes is done in error , however sometimes it's not.

hmmm... see below... just tried it since his question was to me...

as a software developer,
sometimes the user is correct (depending on the scenario)

so maybe it's not the issue I brought up,
but another one,
might be it triggers the wrong error message ? thanks !
