I think I get all the benefits I need just by reading and getting help from this great forum run by some neat volunteers.

I have had a PayPal account for 4 years and no problems. I have it attached to a bank account. A seperate one from our main. Most credit cards have limits and if you surpass the credit limit they will shut your card down. What I do for a long trip I call Visa and give them a Idea of where I will be traveling and how long. Set up for them to text or call you if they think anything is out of the ordinary. I like the Visa cash rewards card, we had enough points to purchase 1 tank of fuel for the motorhome. Something else I did was to have Pilot and Loves set there card up for auto pump start so I dont have to run in and out of the service several times, it saves a lot of time.

Same here

PayPal is in business and they charge merchants a rate of 2.9% + $0.30 per U.S. transaction. If they were not legit they would be out of business. If a person uses PayPal it is the merchant that is charged.

I personally think it is one of the more secure ways of conducting business. Your credit card is not passed around. The charges are billed to PayPal and they are the only ones that use your CC or bank account and all the merchants never see your CC information
I have been both a Paypal seller and a buyer for probably 15 years. I have had my share of disputes (on both sides) over the years and have never been dissatisfied with the outcome. I haven't had a dispute lately so maybe things have changed.

I use PayPal almost exclusively. I agree with the quote above that none of your card or bank information is exposed and you are protected on your purchase. If anyone's bank cancelled a card because of a Paypal payment, you have a bank problem not a Paypal problem.

I agree. Also when I use my Paypal card they send an email to my phone with the amount, merchant name and address. Most times I will hear the phone receiving the message before I even leave the counter. So if my card were to get lost and compromised I would be aware of it immediately. I am pleased so far.

Have done maybe 5000 transactions thru PayPal (FeeBay seller mostly) over 15 years. I feel 100% comfortable using it to receive $$$ for products and to pay for purchases.

I much prefer Paypal over handing my credit or debit card number all over the internet.

Been using Paypal for over 10 years. NEVER had an issue with it...yes, there are some banks out there that don't like dealing with Paypal but it isn't Paypal's problem but the bank's hangup. It's like dealing with different CC companies. Not everyone wants to play nice with American Express or Discover.

There are a few other alternatives...Amazon has a program and there is also Apple Pay. But it also depends on the purchaser...in this case irv2. They prefer Paypal cause it's quick and easy.

One thing I ALWAYS do is verify my bank will deal with Paypal but if you are using a debit or credit card, they should NOT have a say in where you use it. Paypal has come a long way and last year Paypal became a separate company from eBay.

I know that Paypal is becoming the best way to handle money online or even in stores...Home Depot now does Paypal purchases in their stores.

Pay pal is legit and yes problems do happen with ANY payment system. In most cases it's user caused but not all. It's ok if you don't want to use or participate . I am one who has had no problems with pay pal in many transactions .
I assume What people are saying, is they would send $ but won't use the system selected Ok , fine , irv2 can say "too bad" do nothing Or find a alternative. ( if possible)
The truth is the op and others can and will find themselves less and less able to "function" in today's world as time goes on and that's ok too. Same as the people with the horse and buggy thought the car was dangerous and were forced off the road eventually. We all make our own decisions !

Bad times with paypal. I had my grandson use his account to pay it.
