I'd guess that over 50% of us vote and go to church, but we still don't discuss divisive topics.

You can discuss guns and RVs other places, here for example: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RV_SAG/

I don't like to watch NASCAR, MSN, CNN, The Cooking Channel, WWF, etc... rather than asking the cable company to delete them I just don't watch them.

Some RV owners travel with guns and have questions, seems relevant to RV'ing.
Some go to church, they might like to ask questions about churches and religion in areas they travel to, seems relevant to RV'ing. Does this take Christmas off the list. Will we now be discussing the holiday season?
Does politics extend to veterans, the American flag, etc... While maybe not directly relevant to RV'ing seems like a lot of members enjoy discussing these topics.

Glad those of you who don't care to read about these issues are protecting us form ourselves.

Like many others I find a lot of benefit here, tons of information and lot's of good people so I will abide by your wishes.

I agree the moderators have a tough and often thankless job and they do their job well. Just seems a shame to ban topics some of us like, to keep the peace with those that do not like them, rather than suggesting that those not wishing to see these popular topics simply resist reading them.
I couldn't say my thoughts on this subject any better. I have been thinking about this thread since I read it yesterday. While I disagree with the sensorship of these threads, I do agree that we as the users of this forum should refrain from the arguing that goes on in threads of these or any other subject.

From iRV2's Community Rules (available at the bottom of every page):

Quote:
About the First Amendment and Your "right to free speech"
We believe in public freedom of speech but that right does not infer that others have to publish your speech. iRV2.com is not a public resource; it is privately owned and we require members to abide by our rules and by the decisions of our staff. If you post outside these guidelines your post may be edited or deleted - this does not violate your right to Free Speech.
Seems pretty clear to me.

THe 1st Amendment would not be a valid argument here anyway. The 1st amendment prevents the government from enacting laws that impede or restrict free speech, peaceful assembly, freedom of the press, establishment of religion, etc... The first amendment does not apply to private entities.

While I disagree with the censorship of this new rule. The 1st amendment does not apply here.

Bingo, it DOES NOT apply in a privately-owned forum such as iRV2, but people will argue the point anyway.

Good Move Janet and Mods: In spite of the fact everything can spark an arguement some topics invite comments that are not appropriate here.
Hope it makes your jobs easier, but I doubt it.

Since we are looking at topics that cause heated discussions, we need to add weight and towing limits topics as well.

Add speed to that, too.

Or defeating the front TV lockout relay so the TV can be on while traveling.

There is always the heated conversation Ford vs. Chevy and Cat vs. Cummins and the ever divisive gas vs. diesel.

My favorite hot topic slides out before or after leveling.
