Keep post saved while writing
Been reading and occasionally contributing to forums for 5 years. Signed in and started replying to an Alpine post. Took about an hour to write, went to attachments to get a picture when it said I wasn't signed in. Signed in again and tried to go back to what I wrote but it was gone. Had this happen before, how can I retrieve what I wrote? What do I need to do so my write up is saved?

When you login, you need to check the Remember Me box. If you don't, when you navigate to another page, in this case the attachments page, you'll get logged out.
Unfortunately, what you wrote is gone. You might try occasionally copying what you've typed & save it to some other document (an email or Word) so if this would happen again, you won't have lost all you typed.

Yes, if you have a long post, an option is to write it in word, open iRV2 and copy from your word document and paste it into the post.
I have several long ones saved (like the step by step for changing coolant in a diesel pusher) and just do a copy and paste.

I have found that if I am going to make a long post, I'll use a word processor program and create a simple text file. Once I have it, I will go copy the text to the clipboard and go to the form page on browser and paste it to the forum. Once I have all of the text there, you can go back and format if things get shuffled a bit and add links to photos, etc.

I know when I've gotten timed out I can hit the browser back button and it takes me back to the editor with my post intact. From there I can copy all, log back in and paste into a new reply window.

X2, same works for me. Though as others have suggested, I will use a word processing app for long posts or at a minimum, copy/paste into note or equivalent.

Word...sounds like a Millenials response. I only have a tablet but I will check the programs to see if I have Word or I'll ask my computer wizard wife. Thanks to you all for you responses. Peace

You'd know if you have Word. It's part of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
You don't have to type in Word then cut paste. You can type in an email draft, or some other kind of notes software you have.

If you are using a web browser on your tablet (Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera, etc) to access iRV2, I suggest that rather than navigating away from iRV2, you open a new "tab" in the browser when you need to research something or want to 'copy and paste' from another site.
I'm pretty sure your tablet has some kind of basic text editor - basic being the key word here, as you don't need the functions of a sophisticated app like Word. Apple has one, I'm pretty sure my Android devices have one (or can get an app for that). You just need to have basic paragraph formatting and spell check.
Good luck and safe travels.

There is a function that will copy what you write. On a tablet it is usually holding your finger on an item and then adjusting what you want to copy. Then when you try and post and it has gone away you can again go to the box for posting and hold you finger on it and the word "Paste" will appear. Touch it and what was copied will be pasted into the box.
On my MAC it is Command A for selecting all in the box, then command C for copying. For pasting it is Command V. On Windows and androids there are functions that work the same way.
