This used to be a really good site. It now appears that we are on our own.
My personal opinion is that the site got too big without having the proper tools to handle the volume.
I am not a "computer geek". I am a long time RVer and will continue to be.
All of the other RV websites work fine for me and that is where I will be visiting in the future, not at iRV2.

Wonder why you single out TXiceman when almost everyone else reported no issues. TXiceman suggested some things to help, yet you singled him out? His tips are right on target and can help speed up a computer. What operating system, browser, internet connection are you using? Perhaps someone can offer some help you'll like.

Wow the OP is kinda thin skinned. Gotta change that for this forum. There may be a member or few that just throws in a turd bomb and that's just fine...we can just move on. But TX gave some specific suggestions.

The site works well for me on my PC or iPad (like right now), but t used to hang-up...

If you want to get iRV2 to speed up, try resetting your User CP to stop the right bar. Some of the ads will not load and the page will wait for the ad. All the ads, I think are from 3rd party origin, so if they don't load, you're stuck waiting.

Just to give a bit of validity to the OP's complaint, I timed the loading of this page. 33 seconds on a T1 line from the time I clicked on the Read Last Post button until the page loaded. As has been reported before, the delay is on the outside calls to all the ads (I can watch the calls and waits on the bar at the bottom of IE7), and not all of us have the liberty to add software or change browsers when we're on a work computer and checking iRV2 during breaks, lunch, etc. I'm lucky that the IT Nazis haven't blocked iRV2.

Folks - if you are having trouble, we apologize but tracking down the issue is key to resolving it. Generally slow downs have several underlying causes.

Make certain that your computer is up to date - including Java and Flash.
Next try logging out of irv2 and deleting your temp internet files and cookies and restarting your computer.

If none of that works then you can try running a traceroute (tracert test) command to see where the hang up is; if there is a log jam between our server and your machine we need to know where.

You can post the results here or send them to the help desk (preferable) by e-mailing support@irv2.com.

Here are some instruction on how to do that How to Use the Traceroute Command

Indiana Journey, whenever troubleshooting computer problems, especially internet ones, one of the first steps is to check and see how many users are affected. If everyone was affected then it would be apparent that the issue was with IRV2. If it doesn't affect everyone then it is likely something to do with the setup or interference from other installed programs on the computers of those who are experiencing the problem. Several people here have tried to point out to you areas that you may want to check to clear up the problem that (since the site is not locking up for everyone) is on your end.

To give an analogy, if I am having problems receiving satellite TV while camping in the forest and no one else is, which is more likely, that the provider has a problem, or that I should move to an area that has a clear view of the satellite?

Rusty - if you are surfing from someone else's system, it's possible they may have blocked feeds from ad companies or even our own image server. Are you having the same issues at home or using another venue?

Yes, the problem exists but isn't as bad with our newer home computers (both HPs running Windows 7 and IE9 on an AT&T DSL).

I dont have any issues on the PC running Win7 SP1 and FF 14 or 15.0.1

I DO, however, have sloooow page loads and even lock-ups on my ASUS Transformer running Android 4 and the default browser. In fact, Android really sucks on this site to the point I only use it to read..

The iRV2 web site wasn't the easiest to load on my computer (MacBook Pro) either.

Now I only use the iPhone app -- it is nicely streamlined, straightforward, and ad free (at least for the time being). :-)

I updated to Opera 12.00 and added ad blocks. At first it was faster but has since slowed down again. Not painfully slow, but slower than any other sites. I compare it to Amazon, which is nothing but adds. It loads about the same as irv2.

There are 97,218 Members. Currently there are Active Users: 1366 (235 members and 1131 guests) and only a few are experiencing painful slow-downs.

I realize this site has to make money to stay afloat, but do they have to make so much that it is driving members away? It's my understanding that whenever someone clicks on a link, be it an email, that someone has replied to a thread they are subscribed to or a link on the forum itself, it generates revenue. There has to be a happy medium and not the all out greed to maximize profits. It also appears that the people who control the site are making no effort to remedy the problem. Maybe the problem needs to be brought to the attention of their boss(es). They may be under the impression that the programmers have maximized revenue but don't even know or maybe don't care that the site is slow. If it's the latter, don't expect any change.
