Angry

Scan the text with a bar code reader. Never had that happen, may be some strange setting in your text configuration

Looks like something that was copied and pasted. The original document may have some punctuation or other formatting characters that show up in this site's text field as something odd.

These marks were clearly quotation marks in the original source.
In some operating systems and messaging fields, such things can cause a crash, but I have not seen it happen any time recently. It's been years.

To reduce the probability of it happening, paste to a known text editor with less special characteristics.

I never copy and paste on this forum. The only time I see it happening is the next day when we see who’s responded. Also this was someone else’s post. Was just wondering but makes me no difference.

That is a direct lift from the Trivia Section of a RV Travel newsletter. Copied and pasted.

Apparently the APP doesn't like or translate quotation marks. Here is the exact text from the Trivia thread.
Quote:
No matter what you call “soda”, “pop”, “soda pop”, or “cola”, it all falls under the “soft drink” category. But what makes it “soft”? Well, “hard” drinks refer to alcohol, even centuries before “soda” or “pop” were invented. The term “soft drinks” was said in contrast to hard drinks to indicate that they had no alcohol in them.

Please understand that I only copied it to give an example in a picture of what I was talking or referring to.

Once again, it only does that to some posts the next day when showing who has replied to a thread.

That is only a picture. I never copy and paste in a thread.

But thanks to those who thought they answered. It is no crisis to try to solve.

You get unprintable (or undisplayable) characters when the original font doesn't have a counterpart in whatever font you are using to print or display the characters. Apparently quote marks are different in this example. Each font character is represented by a binary number between 0 & 255; most fonts put the same graphics at the standard numbers so that an a always shows as an a, but special characters can sometimes differ.

Provide the link to these 'posts' to see if others have the issue.
As suggested, is this a post from RVTravel or instead, the iRV2 forum?

It is a screenshot of a post from iRV2 Just Conversation > Trivia thread. As noted above, it's a translation problem from the forum to the app not recognizing quotation marks. I don't see that on an Android phone so it may be an iPhone issue. As noted by Gary, not all special characters have translations to all fonts.

I've never seen that font type or the page setup on here, though I've only used a Mac desktop or iPad so it could change with other devices. But the bottom, with the trash can, file folder, etc. should show on anything.

Is that from a mail program? Maybe a different site?
