New IE9 Site Warning Message

Every time I go to a new page, I get the following message at the bottom of the screen:

Quote:
Internet Explorer has modified this page to help prevent cross-site scripting.
This just started within the last day or two. Running Windows 7 with IE9.

I'm also running Windows 7 and IE9, but I don't see that.

Easy solution:

Don't run IE9, I don't

I don't either, but I fire it up when an issue arises.

This is the error message that appears at the bottom of the page. Not sure what is causing it, however it has only been seen over the past 24 to 36 hours ..... Using IE9.0.2.

I guess I'm holding off on going to IE9 for a bit.

Well, that's IE for ya, and that's why I don't use it. Too many issues.

I'm on IE 9.0.2 also, and it's interesting I don't see that message.

Back on Firefox now.

With all respect, this sounds like something has changed on the site scripts, not IE9.

Acutally, this message is in your best interest. Some websites allow advertising from other websites. This "cross-site scripting" allows the other website (and you have no idea who they are) access to your computer settings. For example, you could go to a "safe website" that rents a small window on the screen to someone else. That other person can then find out information about you and can leave a "cookie" on your computer. Advertisers love this.

There is a setting in Internet Explorer Version 9 that prevents the "foreign" website from accessing your information. There is a nice article about this Cross-site scripting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .

In summary.... it is a good thing for IE 9 to prevent this. The warning message basically tells you that the web site you went to is renting space to a possibly malicious site.

Yep, I've noticed that, when this message appears, at least one of the advertising boxes at the top or right side of the screen is blank with only a # sign showing in it.

Here what the window looks like with the #.

I have also copied the properties of the blank ad piece.

Hope you don't mind if a "Chrome" user asks a question...
This is all Greek to me, but-
Does that mean that IE is saying that THIS site is "renting space to a possibly malicious site"???

Short answer; No. I believe that there is a scripting error in one of the ads that is probably getting looked at right now. The Admin here works diligently to get these anomalies resolved.
