I use the mobile app on my phone and do not see these ads. I don't think I have Adblock.

People that are are promoting ad block have you considered that the ads are part of what keeps this excellent source of information and help free?

Make sure you are logged in first. Ads don't show in postings this way!

To overcome the problem when I search for something or call a dealership (anywhere) I always mention that I have read about them in IRV2 postings. They seem happy enough with that. As an aside you can just install a popup blocker and this cleans out about 90% of the problems.

You are right about the tracking and the need for anti-v software. But what I'm getting on the IRV forum is loud, uninvited, audible interruptions, ads from advertisers that I suspect, are paying IRV2 for posting them. I am not opposed to ads in general as I find that many of them provide helpful information. But these are obnoxiously invasive and I do not get them on any of the other forums that I frequent (yet).

Well at least 'plain ol Bill' post did others good......seems several didn't know about Ad Blocker and now have it installed.
Unfortunately after 21 responses don't think 'plain ol Bill' will benefit as he is gone
Ah the simplicity of 'ad blocking software' and the joy of surfing w/o annoying commercials
There are several different Ad Blocker add-ons--------Lite to Plus
I never see ANY and my spyware takes care of tracking cookies

Lori basically nailed it when she said the bit about ISP tracking software. I use Firefox for a browser and have "Private Window" turned on so that (Supposedly) I am not tracked. I'm not totally convinced about its real effectiveness but I seldom if ever get popups and repeat search information during new searches.

To take action, we have to know more than a generalization of just there's an annoying or noisy ad. Where did you see the ad, what was the ad for & by whom? We can't address the obnoxiousness if we don't know who's behind the ad.

That is an excellent point. Please refer to post #30 in the Forums 101 thread for an explanation about ads here.

Hardly. A site the size & complexity of iRV2 with nearly 200,000 registered members takes a lot of $$$ to keep the standard membership free. The less than 1/10 of 1/10 of 1% of paid upgraded memberships is a drop in the bucket to cover operating costs. The Supporter membership is more for the increased options for our members.

For those of you who, like me, has learned so much on IRV2, please consider becoming a Supporting Member! It's such a small amount for the benefits we get!

I am a supporting member and have been since soon after they started offering it. It's $15.03 per year if I am remembering correctly. That's a hair more than $1.25 per month or 4.1 cents per day. What other RV clubs or organizations provide this much benefit, regardless of their cost?
I surf the internet with my sound completely off. The dog and the monkey are bothered by the strange sounds that seem to come from out of no where. That may be why I was unaware of the ads the OP mentioned. So -- try turning the sound off. The peace and quiet is most enjoyable.
