Hi:
Since joining iRV2, I've wanted to learn HOW to post a photo along with a comment or a question that I've entered into one of the threads on iRV2.

I've read...and re-read...and re-re-read, AND, printed out to read yet AGAIN, numerous versions of your instructions and numerous re-prints of suggestions and instructions from others posting info on this same topic....and BOY!!!,for an old fart who has tried learning to use computers on his own...THIS process is OVERWHELMING!!! BUT....gulldarnit!!!, dagnabit!!!, I'm goingto learn how!!!!!

So, PLEASE tell me what I don't understand and what I'm doing wrong so far.

O.K., say I've got a question about something to do with the engine in my MH and I want to ask the iRV2 "gurus" about. Say I've also taken a picture of the engine part...AND...I've dumped that pic into my computer from my digital camera. So, THERE the picture sits in my computer photo file gallery. I'm aware I've got to re-size that photo BEFORE I can add it to a post, but get a little lost in the various discussions about pixels, quality, resolution, j-peg, Bit(something), etc. etc. I'm not exactly clear about what size means, nor how to change my orig. gallery photo (sometimes I may not want to mess up my orig.) Anyway, I DID download the free photo re-sizing program (for Vista), that Monoco Mama recommended to beaverjm in her post of Jan. 7th. Also, do I understand correctly that a photo from my computer gallery, AFTER resizing in my computer gallery, must FIRST be "uploaded" to an iRV2 Photo Gallery BEFORE I can attach it to the question I'm posting?? In other words, I cannot attach even a correctly re-sized pic directly from my computer to a New or Reply post without going to the iRV2 photo area. Also, can I type my New or Reply post first, and then attach a photo, OR, does the picture need to be attached to the post FIRST, then a text message added. The Photo Instructions atop this section seem to indicate the photo must be inserted to the posting window before ya type any text...is this right? Awwwww...THIS is gettin to much for one post. Steve

Chickadee...
I will answer as best I understand your questions... BUT you can also PM or email me your phone number and I will call and walk you through it too...

You asked...

Also, do I understand correctly that a photo from my computer gallery, AFTER resizing in my computer gallery, must FIRST be "uploaded" to an iRV2 Photo Gallery BEFORE I can attach it to the question I'm posting?? It must be somewhere on the Internet-(IE: Here-Photobucket-Picasa web album In other words, I cannot attach even a correctly re-sized pic directly from my computer to a New or Reply post without going to the iRV2 photo area. I tend to type what is before the photo - add the photo in and then continue typing. I usually will have 2 windows open as I do this...one where the photo album is...and the other one is the thread I am posting is.

I hope this helps... and I have faith that you can do it. It just takes a little practice after you have done it once. Let me know if you want more assistance...

MM: Thanks for the help and the invite to call if necessary. I'll try NOT to bother you BUT may take ya up on that if my practice attempts go awry. Steve

Don't worry about it Steve... I have done many "personal via phone" training sessions.

By the way...We will be changing procedures just about the time you are finally good at doing photo posting here! (It should be much simpler. )

Now, MM, bless her heart, has misspoken here.

It will DEFINITELY be easier.

The difference between R66 and myself... I have come from the school of "Seeing Is Believing"
and not "Believe in Everything You Are Told"

(PS...welcome home Dirk! )

( you are indeed helpful MM )

am i correct in remembering (possibly) that one of the changes iRV2 will see is the ability to post pics in threads without first uploading that pic to an internet pic holding place?
if true, does that mean that iRV2's storage space requirement goes way up? as versus using a seperate pic storage place like what is used now?

it seems that the 'how to show pics' question stumps a lot of folk, including me if i haven't posted in a while and temporarily ferget,
and i recall that it takes two seperate logons here, one for pics and one for blabbing,
so there would only be one logon if the new system was actually going to be?

You are correct that photos will be uploadable directly from your computer to a post. They will no longer need to be hosted on the web first. Storage limits are unknown at this time.

In addition only one login ID will be necessary for all of iRV2.

thanks 66
that is a huge change!
there has been a lot of posts i have made, or just threads in general that i've read, that would have benefited from a quick pic,
but i have sometimes been too lazy or busy to resize and then post to the pics area,
so i look forward to seeing this new invention

Unless they have come up with some great new improvement to computer software, they will still have to be re-sized or they will be way too large to fit a computer screen.
The newer cameras resolution is just too large .

I'm pretty sure photo's are automatically resized when placed in a post and they can be clicked on to see the larger original version.

Sorry, can't read sign language.

I am talking about posting photos with vBulletin.

From our new owner, Andy;

Quote:
the new software will automatically resize images so they will fit nicely into our discussions (no more left/right scrolling). All you have to do is click on the image to see the full size version.

Don't do this to me -- I've worked for two years with MM and I'm almost there now
