Hi everyone --

Been here a long time. Here's 2 suggestions on how irv2.com can make some great improvements to make the best RV forum better:

1) Fix Chat -- the Java security issues are keeping people off chat.

2) When logged in as a member, please display 'Recent Discussions' somewhere on the page. We can only see this when we are NOT logged in, but have to suffer with all the ads. Log in, and lose the ads, but we don't see the 'Recent Discussions' sidebar. I think the 'Recent Discussions' sidebar adds a lot of value when scanning the forum.

Anyone else?

As far as recent discussions. They do appear when logged in if you don't shut off the right side. There have been many threads on ad blockers to eliminate seeing ads.

I don't know about number 1 but I'm logged in and I do have the "recent discussions" sidebar. That's how I saw this/your post.

What would be nice about #2 is to still see recent discussions even if you turn the right column off. There must be a way to do this.

You timing was great for me. bdaball was a regular on the Freightliner Chat. I had not observed him being on chat for some time. I sent him an email and told him I missed his input on the chat and was hoping he would return. Below is part of his response.

"I have missed chatting on the forum each week but that java thing is a pain in the butt. Every time my computer does an update I lose my ability to get into the chat rooms. I just haven't had time to follow up on that while we were traveling. Maybe once we get home that will change but I would much rather the forum come up with some other arrangement as I see this to be a continual thing".

I visited the Chatters Room last night and they told me their numbers are way down. They did not say why.

As far as #2 is concerned I turned off the side bar adds some time ago. I would love to see recent discussions but I don't want to turn on the adds to see recent discussions.

me too, but I notice there is a little UP arrow on it... it's possible that you have somehow hidden yours? Might be able to turn that back on in the control panel.

Me personally, I kinda like the ads, they turn me onto the things I actually am interested in. However, they sometimes make the site a litttllllee chunky- speedier server maybe? Staying with the latest version of VBulletin, which it appears as though it is...

Janet H helped me along the way w.r.t. all the ads, and her advice (thanks Janet) was to turn off the right side. I did. No more ads. Tradeoff was I lost 'Recent Discussions'.

Cliffftall, with all due respect, Chat Room issues may have been addressed, but they are not fixed, and are at least, clumsy at best.
