Site locks up

Hi,

For the last week to 10 days (maybe more), the site locks up when using a Galaxy Note 5, latest OS and the latest version of Chrome. When I click a post to read it just locks up. No error message. Not having the issue on any other sites. Cache / history has been deleted to with no change in behavior

The site works fine using an iPad or MacBook Pro. All using the latest version of Chrome.

Thanks

Question

I think it's all the ads, but they do pay the bills.

If it were the ads, I would think all my devices would behave the same. I don't think that has anything to do with it. This just started 10 days ago

Mine has been doing the same on/off for the last week or so. It will also lock up at times when trying to respond to a post, and everything seems to need to catch up to the last command, ie letter you typed or thread you click on. It doesn't do this with other web sites or emails I respond to. Right now it seems to be working fine though.

I see admins responding to other posts under this section. Why no response here?

It's been reported. We don't know anything yet.

I was having a similar problem on my Dell laptop, tried different browsers with no improvement. I cleaned the PC to get rid of all cookies etc, no help.

I had a reoccuring issue with a rouge website popping up, the add was for PC cleanup/security. It actually installed the software, I tried uninstalling it with no luck, finally traced the the location which was deeply hidden and deleted all the files except the install. It now does not pop up. I figure there is a trigger in the install file that if it is deleted it embeds somewhere else and then reinstalls. worked for me.

Had suggestions to install Adblocker on the browser which helped but didn't completely solve problem.

Someone suggested to install Malwarebyts, I had a different security installed and thought I was covered. Installed Malwarebyts and it found hundreds of hidden files which it quarantined and I deleted. Solved the problem.

Years ago I use to have McAfee and thought my computer was protected. I had a problem with my computer, it would just shutdown. To get it started I had to do a recovery but maybe a couple days later same thing. After the third time I took it to a "computer MD" and they removed 8 viruses and hundreds of adware and spyware.

They used AVG Antivirus to remove viruses and other software to remove everything else. The virus that caused my computer to shut down was on my recover disk so everything I did a recovery I put it back into the system. The tech that fixed my computer did not care for McAfee.

There is a free version of AVG that works pretty good. That is what got ride of my problems. I have a licensed version of AVG and Malwearbytes for I think $30 each and have not had any problems for maybe 10 years.

I suggest running Malwarebytes and Spybot on a regular basis.

Those experiencing lock ups should try both of these programs.
