Because revenue is generated per impression too. All they have to do is display the ad to you to get paid.

No, but as a customer, they have access to vBulletin's forum and developers.

True that.

If *I* were writing the code, I'd make the request from the ad servers prior to rendering the page and cache all the results. Then display all of them as part of my content instead of having my visitor's browser make the request. That way, I'd have control over the timing, and I'd be able to display ads even if the visitor used an ad blocker.

I am about two steps from taking this forum off my list. I have been here for years and it is about as bad as anything I have seen. You click and then have to wait for something to load or whatever. Anyway, it just sits there for a couple of seconds, then decides to show whatever topic you clicked on. When you get ready for another topic you have to click the back button 5-10 times before you get a response. Click any of the ads and get instant response.
I realize that I pay nothing for access to this site, but money is paid simply by members coming here. I don't know if others have the same problem, but if so then their patience must be as thin as mine. NO, I will not go to the trouble to load some other program to simply view a site that OUGHT to be viewable as it stands. RV.net responds almost instantly and you don't have to go through all the acrobatics to read it. *rant complete*

The back button is intermittent. Sometime I hit back and it goes back, other time, it just takes me to the top of the same page where the ads are. I'm beginning to think it is Google and it's ads that is controlling the back button.

Google itself has changed. At times it no longer wants to go back and I have to start over. I used to use GMBMG(Give Me Back My Google) and it appears that Google has found a way to disable it.

It's all about Corporate Greed.

I don't know what happened a couple weeks ago. Nothing here that I know of. I do seem to have issues, from time to time, anytime MS does an auto-update on my laptop.

Anyway, I got rid of that annoying Ads by Google box at the top center of the pages this way (I'm using IE8):
Click on Tools (upper left of Browser window)
Click on InPrivate Filtering

Once I logged off iRV2.com, the next time I logged in, the ad box was gone. I also have my right column (more ads) turned off. No more ads for me, anywhere, & no loading issues.

Yeah Lori, whenever MS does an update, it changes some of my settings. I have updated turned off. IE8 disabled my deleted button while composing an email in Outlook Express. I had to install a new email program.

What I am seeing is some frustrated people that will only complain so long then they will move along. Does Google own this WEB site? If not, then why does iRV2.com leadership allow Google to run roughshot over these pages?

I completely understand that some ads are necessary to pay the bills but to bog down these pages to the point of frustration will run new people away...this is not the only WEB site dedicated to the RV community!!!

I have noticed that many of the ads I see on my pages are tailored to business in and around where I live or businesses I trade with already. Google can be picking up from my past searches so it displays an ad from the Ford dealership I deal with already, not some other Ford dealership in town but Kerry Ford where I purchased my Ford and where I get all my service. How is that helping anyone? I'm already a customer and I am not going to click on that ad...I have their service department number on my cell phone directory...all this un-necessary ad loading just slows down the loading of my pages

The only thing that keeps me from wondering off to other RV sites is most of my viewing is on my iPAD using the iRV2 app.

The ads on these pages are out of balance and I strongly suggest that the iRV2 marketing folks dial it back a little if they do not want to kill a good WEB site!

Folks - we are aware that some members are seeing slow page loads but as the problem seems to be transient and regional, we need some help from you to identify the specific issue. Not everyone is experiencing trouble and some folks have had trouble because they have outdated Flash and Java programs running. If you have updated your browser and associated software and know that your local connection is fast and are having slow page loads, we welcome your assistance.

When you load a page, you can look in the bottom left corner of your browser and watch what's loading and in what order. You can see what slows down your page.

You can also run a traceroute test to see load times and delays in routing. Here are some directions to do that.

You can e-mail us the info from your test to: support@irv2.com. Please don't post it in this thread as the tracert willl contain some identifying info about your locations, etc.

I log in from my work computer (T1 line), I log in from home (DSL), I log in from the road (notebook using a MiFi) and I see slow page loads in all three application/computers. As stated before I spend the majority of my time viewing iRV2 on my iPAD using the iRV2 app and it is quick...no ads!

Sorry for the issues you all are experiencing. One post on this thread talks about new ads being shown, that's not the case, we have had the same ad setup for years now. Regardless, it seems that something along the line in the ad delivery process is hanging for certain people. I will contact Google, who's infrastructure provides run the system to find out how we can trace fan fix this problem.
