iRV2 Please Stop Sta-Bil Ads
I love iRV2 but I hate the Sta-Bil advertisement that auto-plays a video every time you pass over it with the cursor. I don't much mind the ads in iRV2 but because of this annoying video that constantly triggers I tried installing AdBlocker. But like any medication there are always side effects. AdBlocker was causing issues with Safari and Firefox so off it came and the horrible Sta-Bil guy is back to telling me that I need to buy his product.
Please, I beg of you... remove this ad, ask Sta-Bil to provide a non-video ad and stop adding any more of these auto-play video ads in the future. I can't believe I am the only one that feels this way, so if you are reading this and agree please reply.

It's not IRV's problem, it's the browser your using. I don't see that ad because I use Mozilla and installed Adblock Plus (free) and now I don't see any of those annoying adds. Give it a try.

I don't see most of the ads either and I use IE and no ad on ad blocker. The only ad I see is the one across the top, just below the header photo, and it will change based on my browsing history. Recently it's been advertising storage buildings.

X2 I don't see any ads with Adbocker Plus and Chrome, just the header picture.

Cliff,
I am a little surprised by your response. The advertising on iRV2 is generating revenue from users clicking on the ads and somewhere, someone is receiving those $'s to help pay the cost for web servers, support, etc to host such a fine forum. So to recommend to users that they install ad blockers is a bit counter to the operation of the forum that depends on the advertising to pay the bills.
I am not trying to be a troublemaker, just pointing out that ads which auto-play a video every time you mouse over them is annoying. I also don't wish to install an ad blocker program that is going to slow down my browser.
If you think my original posting is inappropriate I am fine with you removing the entire thread.
Thanks for listening... Glenn

The iPhone app doesn't use ads, but I have still wanted to contribute to this excellent forum. I know the advice I've received here has saved me both money and aggravation far in access of the few dollars I would be contributing.
Sadly you can't become a supporting member through the app, and I just never think about doing it the few times I'm using my computer, because even when sitting in front of my computer, I always access this forum through my phone.
I am surprised there is little to no mention, or encouragement, for us to become supporting members. I certainly something I want to do but I just never remember to do it when I get home to my computer.

I agree the ads are annoying, especially the flashy/blinky/video ones, but they keep this site free for our members. Especially the ads by our paying Sponsors.
However. there are steps a member can take to reduce the number of ads displayed, all of which have been discussed multiple times in multiple threads in our Forum... - Being logged in
- Turning off the right column
- Installing an ad-blocker for your browser
- Keeping your cursor away from ads
I realize, some or all of these aren't acceptable solutions for some here but they're the options available if one isn't wanting to be irritated by the pesky ads.

If an adblock plugin is slowing down your browser enough to be physically noticeable, you hardware is either very, very, very old (Manufactured somewhere in the range of 2000-2003 before Hyper-threading and multi-core CPUs became common), or there's a greater underlying problem on your system (Malware, Spyware, Virus, failing hard drive, Windows is in need of a reinstall due to excessive bloatware, etc...).

Sta-bil Banner
Is it just me? There is a Stabil banner, sometimes two, that will open and automatically start playing an advertisement video, just by your mouse crossing over it. I find it to be very annoying.

The flashing ads drive me crazy.
If I use Adblock then I have problems with not being able to put spaces between my sentences.
It's kinda like if you are sitting in a room talking to another person and an annoying child comes and and keeps shouting. Very distracting.
I'm curious why advertising people think being annoying is going to cause you to buy their product.

Buying their product won't even turn off the ads
