Stop the Pop Up Ads

IRV2 Admin.
Not a real computer wiz here, but is there any way to stop the pop up advertisements that keep blasting into the middle of my concentration while on your forums?? It's a pain to have to keep scrolling back to the head of the page to "Skip This Ad" every 2.5 minutes.

Try using Opera as your browser, it blocks pop ups.

Yep, Firefox and Ad Block Plus does it for me! The forum is almost unusable if you don't block the ads.

I use Firefox and don't have any ads. They have several blockers from pop-up blockers to several different ad blockers such as adblock edge, adblocker lite, popup controller, ublock origin. I run them all. After you install Firefox go to the 'add-ons and install the above blockers. It's worth a try. If you don't like it just un-install it.

The irony is, people wouldn't feel compelled to run ad blockers if the ads weren't so ridiculously obnoxious. I tried opening this website the other night on my daughters laptop and it was beyond frustrating; having commercials popping up every few minutes.

Those ad's are what pays the bills to keep this a "Free Site" for all to use.........and learn. It took me awhile, but after installing Firefox(Wonderful Browser) and Firefox's Ad Block..........ad problems and slow page loading ended.

Being an iRV2 supporter coupled with turning off your right column goes
a long way to eliminating most ads.

Doing a search on the subject here will give more coverage on the subject than you would most likely want to read.

Those annoying ads which you can take steps to not see them as already mentioned are what gives you the ability to enjoy this site free of charge.

This my personal opinion not that of a IRV2 Admin.

So true, but there is a limit. My Adblock Plus somehow got 'lost' about a month ago during a Firefox update. This site along with a couple others became virtually unusable and for that matter unstable until I could reload that little free program. I'm also curious if some of those pop ups could carry a virus as well since I doubt vBulletin really has little control over content. That pop up you see on your screen is in all probability based on cookies on your system - or at least that's what my rudimentary 'puter knowledge suggests.

Totally agree with the limit as well as understand the frustration when they take over and slow things down.

The admins/owners of iRV2.com have the ability to turn off all pop up ads. They choose not to, guessing for the revenue. Very annoying. I use ad-block. iRV2.com is the only site that finally drove me to use ad-block. Ad block does the job well
