Subscription email notifications

Currently, when you are subscribed to a forum or thread, you get an email notification when a new post is made, along with the content of that post. At the bottom of that email is the statement
Quote:
There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.
By "visit" it really means login, correct? This is not convenient sometimes, especially if I don't have anything to respond to but am just following a conversation. I really would like the option to have every post emailed to me if I so choose without having to continually visit the forum and login.

If that is not possible, then at least add another login button or link at the end of a thread. When clicking on the link from the notification email, I'm taken to that post which is often way down the page. So to login (so it will register that I've seen the new post), I have to scroll back to the top of the page to get to the login button/link.

If you select “ remember me “ when logging in you won’t have to log in again when viewing email notifications.

I've seen this mentioned before, but it doesn't work (at least not for me).

I’d then suggest clearing your browser cache and history as something seems to be blocking this or you delete your cookies often.

Another thing that can keep getting you logged out, even if you've checked the Remember Me box, is if you're internet settings are too high. Check to be sure they're no higher than med-high.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.

I think the problem is that I always logout when I'm done. The clue was when logging out, it displays the message "All cookies cleared!". So I'm thinking this prevents "auto" logging back in when revisiting.

Still running some tests of not logging out but just closing the tab/browser, including whether the Remember Me option makes a difference, and whether there's a time limit for how long you can not visit and it still work. Unless someone already knows the answers, but judging by the responses here I think not.

That only applies to the old Internet Explorer on Windows, neither of which I use. I hope you're not still using that, as it is an outdated security-riddled browser.

I think you’ve answered your own question. Clearing cookies will disable the remember me function. I never log out. The system does this approx 60 minutes after you’re last activity. Opening up ( refreshing ) the browser will log you in automatically if remember me is selected and you haven’t cleared your cookies. If you don’t select remember me you’ll get logged out frequently ( sometimes by merely switching from one forum section to another ).

Thanks. I'm not. Don't worry, I know my way around computers & browsers.

Obviously YMMV, but still happened to me on current versions of Chrome, Edge & FF. As long as I keep my security setting off the highest setting, I don't have the log out problems.
