I too use other sites and see no difference. I've found this site to be the most informative of all.

My experience so far has been varied. I have not seen much a difference between the new forum or the old forum. Any issues I do experience are not limited to iRV2. I have issues on a lot of other sites too. Some have to do with the downloading of advertisements. But ads pay the bills. I can live with loading ads if it keeps the site free.

I am exclusively on a wireless air card. Some days I get a better signal than others. I also see signal level very during the course of the day. There does not seem to be any patter to it. Just happens.

But that is only what I can see. I also experienced occasional response time issues when I was in my home with a 6MB DSL connection. I have also visited websites and experienced performance issues from my office where we had a 100MB LAN and an OC12 facility from the building. We as users have no idea what is going on inside the "network". ISP's could be seeing sporadic performance issues, network congestion, routing issues or other things that will indeed look to a user as slow response time. Spending the last 10 years of my working career working on the network side of an ISP I have seen things happen that ultimately hindered performance.

It is kinda like buying a sleak, fast sports car. It may be able to do 200 MPH, but when you are driving I-5 thru L.A. during rush hour; you are ain't gonna be going too fast (been there, done that).

Jax, and others, in order to help you, we some details.

IE is known to be slower than FireFox and we are looking to see if something can be done to speed things up for IE users.

The new software does seem to load differently/slower than the previous software. Headers and banners come down immediately. Contents of the forum/thread take another 5 seconds (about). The old site either did the download all at once or was better at masking what took longer. I am using ATT broadband (3 MBP down speed). The ISP and P/Cs I use are the same as with the old site, with no changes.

After all is said and done, for me, it is a minor irritant/difference that is one of many I need to get used to. Being trained as a shuttle pilot may be easier than learning about all the features of this software. Over time, I'll get there and may even become proficient as using the site!

The Techies are working behind the scenes to speed things up...no promises. It appears that IE loads the items on a page differently than does Fire Fox and thus it is slower. Why is the big question.

For those that want to try, you might try Fire Fox and see if it helps. I've been using it for about 5 years now and no problems. it is a FREE download for the basic version.

I am not computer smart, I am just a user of the item. How would I find the information you ask for? I am not on a DSL I am using wireless, thru a company called Clearwire at home and a T1 line at work that is on a high speed connection of some kind. I also use Explorer and Windows.

No problem here, but I'm running on Verizon wireless and the service is poor at best. Then too, I'm retired and don't need instant satisfication!

I too have noticed a definite slow down on page loading. I have tried it on two different laptops and the results are the same. I'm using Verizon's broadband and having no trouble with other web sites.

I disagree when you say "it's not the new system." The old system worked very well, in my case with the very same laptops, and now without any changes on my part the new system is much slower. This definitely indicates it's the new system. You may be right, that it could be something to do with our Virus software or whatever, but it didn't act this way before. Also there are definitely more graphics, ad's etc. As I'm typing this message some of the ad's are updating realtime. This to me says it's going to take longer to load.

You can identify the browser by clicking <Help> in the upper toolbar and then select <About IE>.

To find out about your processor and memory, you Will need to go to Your Control panel and then select System if you are still running Windows XP or earlier. It will have the computer info there. I do not remember the location in Vista, but it is very similar.

The "slow" issue for me revolves around page to page changes. With each page change, headers and sidebars load immediately, forum content is slow to appear. As I said previously, 10-15 seconds for forum content to show-up. I'm no techie and do not know if this is considered slow or not, but in comparison to the previous system, it is to me.

I am on a Dell laptop using Google Chrome browser, connected to Comcast cable through a Linksys WRG54G wireless router and it takes me an average of 2 seconds to change threads... same on other forums I frequent...

I run a MAC Air using FireFox and have no problem when using various DSL feeds or when tethered to my BlackBerry Storm. The speed is comparable to before the switch. As an aside note this became my primary RV fourm do to the upgrade, great job guys.

Just looking at your stats on your system. 224MB of RAM.. Are you sure about that? First, usually ram amounts follow the multiples of 8 rule:

8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, etc..

If that is correct though, then you have VERY little ram. It will be like a brand new computer if you can bump that up to 1gb.
