Depending on the browser and the ad blocker software you're using, you can speed up a site that heavily depends on Google and ads by blocking domains like doubleclick.net. By doing so the javascript that loads their ads (usually a remote file) cannot load and thus doesn't bog down the load time of the page since I.E will generally hang waiting for Google Ads and the other DoubleClick ads to load.

If the "classified" section and the "photo" section run at normal speed, why can't we make the Community Forum run at the same speed? This is the only forum I have to wait 8 - 10 seconds between page changes, even when going back to the previous page. And, like many others, I experienced the slowdown only after the conversion. It doesn't matter what computer I use, XP Home, XP Pro, Vista 64, nor does it matter if I am using IE 7, IE 8, or MSN. This web site is so painfully slow, that I find myself not wanting to visit. Why frustrate myself?
You need to do something before you shoot yourself in the foot. From all the post, I see about the slowness it can't be all the members.
My question to you is; is the issue being worked on or is this is good as it gets?

Happycarz,

I am working on the issue. Hopefully we'll be able to announce a solution later this week.

Regards,

Andy

I know my computer was slow. It only had 256 MB of RAM. Last week I fixed that problem. I installed 2- 512 MB RAM sticks. Guess what? With the new changes that were made it is no longer my computer that is slow. It is this website.

Andy,
Whatever you did in the last 24 hours is appreciated. This is the best it has ever been for me. It is up to the speed of another one of my vBulletin sites.
Thank you.

Happycarz, I switched the site over to a load balanced setup with the web servers. This means the load is spread over 3 web servers which lowers the load and helps the pages process faster. I will try to tweak more things this week...

Andy,

Don't touch it. This is me, the one that started this thread and today is moving at lighting speed compared to the first post I made. Don't touch it. This was great,,,, only took about 5 seconds between pages to get from page 4 to page 8. Leave it alone. Thanks.

Slow? How about dumping passwords, duplicate passwords, no password!! I joined last year, had to join again, now it looks like I'm a newbee.!! I want to choose my own password, not try to remember ADfiE8J everytime I log on. The site DOES NOT remember me. What is going on? I'm ready to bail...

You can change your password by following directions here ..
You made the comment: "The site DOES NOT remember me." Are you trying to have the system remember you without logging in each time?
