We have periodically slowness, and I'm sure it's a server problem along the way. I use both IE and AOL, some problems earlier were with a problem at AOL which has been fixed. All in all we are happy with the new layout.

Things appear to be getting worse rather then better regarding the speed of these pages. Maybe it's just me but it's actually slowed down even more. Especially when hitting the Back Button to go back to the previous page once I'm through reading a post. I'm seeing 15 to 20 seconds. Multiple times it just seemed to freeze. The outer graphics and all the graphics at the top of the page was still displaying but the text and subjects in the posts disappeared and it just stayed there until I finally hit the IE Refresh Button. Once I did that after about 5 or 6 seconds it finally displayed the previous page.

By the way I'm running IE 7.0.5730.11
with Windows XP Service Pack 3
I've got over 1 gig of ram and a 2 gig processor
Not sure on Video, but it's very fast on everything else except this forum.

Mac's

I think the problem is not with the forum but with the computers you guys are using. I am connected via wireless, 802.11n Wi-Fi and can go anywhere in the forum in less than one second.

I am using a MacBook, Intel with Airport OS X Leopard.

Are there any Mac's out there that are having any of the issues reported here?

Hi Bob,
I also have a 2 Ghz processor, running the same IE and XP you are using. But, I have 2 GB of RAM. It takes about 2-7 seconds to do anything on this forum. Consider adding another GB of RAM.

Using the back button on the browser tells the browser to try to use the cached version of the page. If it's really slow, it's probably because your cache is corrupted or just too big. Tell IE to empty the cache and see if that helps.

Just to give a status report...

We are working on some of the slow load times some users are experiencing when using the Microsoft Internet Explorer (This goes for AOL users too).

I would like to mention that during our debugging, we checked out the site with the Google Chrome browser. The site by far loads much faster with Chrome than any other browser we have tested with.

If your load times are really unbearable, you could try using this browser until we work out these kinks.

A handful of changes have been made in the last 24 hours which will hopefully address the issues for our members who use Internet Explorer and AOL. Your feedback is extremely important, we read each and every post and it helps lead us to the issues that we need to address. If possible, please post about your experience with the page load times today so we can figure out if the changes are helping.

Thanks for your patience and understanding while we get the kinks worked out of the systems.

As suggested, I've added RAM capacity, basically doubled it and now at 512. Between your changes and this upgrade, I'm seeing much, much better speed throughout the site.

Thanks!

My iPhone loads via WIFI in 5-6 seconds via Safari. Can't get much more minimal than that as to memory and processor speed.

There are much better operating systems out there folks and Windows is not one of them.

My results (on a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop via wireless connection to highspeed internet):
IE: Forum page loaded complete in 15 seconds. Scrolling is jerky & even pauses before continuing.
Firefox: Forum page loaded complete in 2 seconds. Scrolling is smooth with no pauses.

For now, I have to stay w/Firefox for iRV2 on my laptop. For the rest of the internet sites I visit w/no issues, I'll still use IE because I already have a ton of them saved in my favorites list & I don't wanna have to go thru all that again w/Firefox. Plus there are some sites I can access better thru IE than Foxfire. Go figure.
