Too many redirects & warnings

Both Google Chrome and Safari block the site with warnings about too many redirects. This prevents login and posting. Each has reported in excess of 20 redirects. Each is reporting warnings about cross-site scripting.

In Safari on iOS I am able to login and post this BUT I had to allow cross-site tracking for this to happen. This has loaded cookies from RV Life and a whole heap of tracking cookies and beacons. These raise security and privacy questions.

The cross-site tracking is a security risk and dozens upon dozens of redirects makes the sites unusable. Will there be fixes coming?

The Too Many Redirects is a known browser issue, especially with those using Safari. It's a browser issue & we can't really help much. It has to be taken care of on your end.

What I've suggested in the past is to delete cookies & clear cache on a regular basis.

I've also Googled that topic & came up with this:
If Safari can't open the page because too many redirects occurred
Choose Safari > Preferences from the Safari menu bar.
Click the Privacy icon.
Click Manage Website Data.
Use the Search field to find the name of the redirecting website, then select the website and click Remove. ...
Click Done, then close Safari preferences.

Cookies are what keeps you logged in as you go from page to page. RV Life is the name of a group of RV-ing related sites that have integrated log ins. You can disallow cookies, but you will not be able to stay logged in as you browse & post here.

The information you found on Google is only related to browser issues. It’s not the browser. Please ask your web developer to look into this. Cross-site scripting should never be used and 20-some redirects on a page load is... sorry, I can’t come up with a polite word so I won’t use one.

I installed Firefox just now to test on that. It’s reporting the same issues as Safari and Chrome. I can send debugging logs if your web developer would find them useful.

To clearfy, it is third party ads that cause the excess redirect issue. This is an iOS problem, not shared with Windows or Android devices.

These ads pay the majority of costs here, so will persist.

First, always log-in and select "Remember me" to stay logged while browsing the site.

You can reduce the ad burden on your browser by becoming a supporting member which allows you to change your set-up to reduce the ads.

Some members have also added a third party ad blocker program, but because of differing particulars of these programs, iRV2 cannot make any recommendations.

Best luck

Sorry about the Apple pie mess. I suggest you download the NoScript Security Suite and Ghostery for Firefox. Ghostery blocks (or permits, at your option) tracking cookies and beacons, and NoScript prevents or modifies the way JavaScript runs on any given page and is highly customizable.

You may also wish to use an advertising blocker, my choice is AdBlock Plus, as it allows me to deny or permit advertising on a host by host basis, or white list an entire domain.

My previous work as a union officer (secretary-treasurer) meant using Apple computers and I had numerous frustrations with Safari - including getting the union's online banking access to work; the bank said "we can't fix the Safari issues, use another browser, there are at least 3 others that will work."
