I also belong to a local Corvette Club and we use Yahoo Egroups for our messaging between members. Even with trying to keep information and emails as short as possible we are continually being reminded that they are unable to handle the large volume. Our club has only about 50 members and we are not talking about a lot of usage.
My question is: how does IRV2 handle all the photos (thousands) emails, URLs, sponsors, and newsletters without boggin down?
Do you have a suggestion for our Corvette Club as to egroups or just a forum?
Thanks

We have several servers and use software from multiple sources. Some of the servers are owned, others are on an annual lease to handle the various parts of the many perks we offer to iRV2 members such as our forums, chat rooms, photo albums, classified ads, campground reviews, etc. It costs us some serious money every month but through the generosity of our founder "Warpath" and our co-owner "rebelsbeach", selling a few banner ads, along with donations from some of our dedicated members, and coupled with a team of active volunteer moderators, we manage to keep the site up and running 365/24/7.

The only advice I can offer for your club would be to recruit a few of your members who are willing, able, and financially prepared to leave Yahoo and build a forum site on your own. Several of our Owners Forums have their roots elsewhere, a few from Yahoo.

Gee, Richard, what five days (six in 2008 since it's a leap year) is the web site unavailable?

Thanks Frank,

Good catch.... I fixed it. Must have been thinking 'financial', they use 360 to compute annual interest. If you spot anything else wrong just let us me know, we aim to please?

I thought it might have been a type-a-giraffe-eek-eel error. Not having access to iRV2.com for a day (or five) could cause some folks to become suicidal.
