Dress up alert

Okay, okay we got the bug. No more bah humbug from us. We went to Goodwill today and picked out some duds for the S.S. Minnow gathering. Even found a super powerful electronic device to secure our escape from the island.

BTW, we will not be wearing masks (unless a local eating establishment requires it). Probably won't happen in rural Indiana though.

There were zero masks last year during the gathering, minus when going to public places that required it.

Why, the risk takers were going as far as doing hugs!!! Ohhhh, the horror

OK, guys. Sue and I got both our vaccination shots back in January/February.

What we need to know is which, if any, of you will NOT have had your shots in time for the rally.

This Delta variant is spreading like the wildfires and we need to ensure we minimize our risk.

Can't wait to see your duds &, more especially, your escape device!

I have some, but more is better. Don't forget the pickled ginger.

Oooh, smoked salmon! (Very unladylike slobbering at the thought of it.) I like cream cheese, avocado & cucumber in my sushi, & hardly care what the fish is. A lightly cooked shrimp is more than acceptable.

Moved over to here. Sushi class: Who can make the better maki, urimaki, nigiri - contest.

I posted this on the main site but will repeat here.
Let me know how many are interested in a crappie or catfish fry. Some have replied on that other site but I need to get a good head count to see if I need to go fishing again.

I was thinking I could do this alone or in conjunction with other activities.

If your not interested let me know as well, I understand not everyone likes fried fish.

My 1st thought is that a fish fry like this is special enough to be its own event. Your choice!

Shall I bring coleslaw? What else? Can't wait!

Sue we can make it what ever. I have a two basket electric deep fryer and enough for the group.

My main reason to ask is I know some donít eat fried fish. If we have enough interest Iíll bring the large frozen bags otherwise a smaller bag will feed many.

When we do fish fries at the lake the menu is usually simple
Fish
French fries
Hush puppies
Scallions
Ice tea or adult beverage.

I enjoy a cook out but donít want to push this on anyone.

So far four couples have shown interest. At the first GC we did it in conjunction with a buffet. At the 2nd GC I didnít have as much fish to feed a crowd BUT when the large group went on the lake tour those left behind had a spur of the moment fish fry.

On the return of the large group to that evenings campfire many voiced they had hated they missed the fish fry.

So , Sue as concierge of this shipwreck Iíll let you make the call, and Iíll just cook!

In my personal opinion, not getting vaccinated is like not wearing your seat belt.

For those who do not like fried fish, I'll have the 22" griddle for pan seared fish. Tim just has to provide me with the fish. No Tim, I'm not pan searing sardnesl

Saw yesterday there was 7 deaths in Texas City of fully vaccinated folks. Each had severe other complications such as uncontrolled BP, up and down diabetics , kidney issues and one ma was just severely ugly.

Sure glad to see Wayneís still posting.

2. Love us some crappies, Tim!!!

3. The SS Minnow crew is complete. Nola and your Grand Poobah will be quest characters on Gilligans Island. 🤣

Thatís all I have to say about that.

Fried fish & French fries? Martin will be thrilled, you know. That's British fish & chips.

But no, I'm only concierge (if that) of the Minnow Cruise. The rest of the week is up to all y'all, & my opinion counts no more than anyone else's.

Question: how do you deal w/ all that oil after the fish fry? Carefully measured out onto the campfire? That's always a concern for us.

We met a guy in AZ who used it w/ diesel for fuel in his truck. Seems to me he hit up all the local fast food joints & restaurants for their spent oil. It doesn't atomize as well as diesel, so I don't know what extra maintenance that might involve.
