Our annual trip to the Santa Fe area was unique in one way. An almost complete lack of RVs on the road. We averaged 2-4 RV sightings per 2-300 mile legs. I blamed part of it on the fact we traveled the weekend following Memorial Day weekend. However, the usual busy RV traffic in this area is definitely down.

I've noticed the same lack of rv's on our local interstates, too. Usually Friday's & Sunday's are very busy rv-sighting days on I-71/I-70/I-77 as the "weekenders" like us are out. But I've pointedly seen there are fewer rv's on the road.
At a recent half-price special stay a favorite destination, the CG was barely half full. Normally the CG is crowded & fhu sites are hard to come by. There were dozens of fhu sites open the wknd we were there, including the 3 that surrounded our site. I'm sure the downturn in the economy is hitting CG owners hard.
We're going less often but for longer stays to make the most out of our travel dollars. I guess others are doing the same, or maybe even, not going out at all.

We had an uneventful trip as far as the weather is concerned. As a rule, I take a hard look at the national weather picture before departure from Florida. If it looks like there will be significant weather around I20, we postpone until it looks more favorable.

There is no lack of RV's on Hwy 441 going thru Franklin, NC. Is it possible that many RVer's are getting off the interstates and taking the more scenic primary & secondary roads? What we have noticed (among all vehicles) is the increase in tags from nearby states. Fewer from the far flung northern states. Still primarily from FL though.
