In my day, it was Li'l Abner and Pogo and maybe Dick Tracy with his wrist radio... And when country-western music could be listened to

Paladin, "Have Gun Will Travel" . . . I never realized until watching re-runs as an adult that each episode really was a morals play.

Sky King was really cool. How about Roy Rogers and Dale Evan.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.

Are you insinuating that Breathed is dropping Opus? I am crushed. I will forever cherish my "Bill-the Cat" stuffed pal!

Yep, the last panel will run 11/2/08. Breathed is going into children's books.

Best,

Heh, only 29 here. But, I have several hundred hours of various Radio Programs stored on Reel-to-Reel tapes.

Fiber McGee & Molly, the Red Skeleton Show, Amos & Andy, X Minus 1, Planet X, Superman, The Lone Ranger, King of the Yukon, The Great Gildersleeve, That one show whose name eludes me at the moment that did radio adaptations of popular movies, Roy Rogers, Gunsmoke, Abbott & Costello, Night Beat, The one show that had a professional safe-cracker turned detective, Sherlock Holmes With Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, Let's Dance!, Lights OUT!, Suspense!, G.I. Jive, and some more that I can't remember right off the top of my head.

I've also got stacks upon stacks of LP records with Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, The Andrews Sisters, Artie Shaw, Cab Calloway, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, The Gershwins, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong....

Opus left us twice before. We can only hope he'll be back.
