We have purchased 2 air pot style 2.2l containers in the last few months. Each time they have broken. The first time was my fault. I opened the door and it was leaning on the inside of the door and I just wasn't quick enough to catch it. The second time I bumped the container against a counter, ok my fault too. The third time it had been riding on the floor board next to a brief case and when I picked up the brief case and coffee pot the *^%# thing leaked all over. Now the truck smells like coffee, and I find myself in need of another coffee holding thing by the next American Legion meeting night.

Where does one go to find a virtually unbreakable or at least heavy duty pot to hold coffee for travel? I live a ways out of town. TIA

Jeff,

Do you need to make coffee in your truck or do you just need a good unbreakable stainless steel thermos bottle such as the old fashioned stanley that contracters have been using for years? Mine is 30 years old and still going strong. My helpers have dumped loads of 2X4's on it sent it rolling down miles of hills and once even accidently kicked it off a rock jetty into the Atlantic. I did almost kick him in after it but managed to resist.

A sturdy insulated stainless steel pot comes with the Black and Decker Space Maker under counter coffee maker. I have one of those installed in my 95 Vectra and I find it acceptable also.

I hope you're just pulling my chain about making coffee in my truck. Just using it to transport.
My Stanley is by far my favorite every day coffee keeper. It is just not practical with the screw top for the meetings

Thanks I'll chenk them out.

I guess you really don't need a big urn for eight. A 12 cup pot would probably do fine.

My dad would have been one of the no shows as he did not like to remember. Each night would bring enough of that. He told me once when he was about 96 the he could not remember their faces but could still clearly see the eyes of every he took out as a Top Kick with Johnson's Jungle Raiders out in the South Pacific. Under the title of Wire Chief he was deposited on a number of Japanese held islands to bury phone line, map things out and do some preliminary demolition to get things ready for the landing parties only to have them change their minds and cancel his extraction. The worse one was when they canceled one Marine landing and left him behind for three months. Of course since he was never officially there he was declared AWOL after the extractions were canceled and ended up being docked close to a years pay. He took all this to his final rest two years ago laughing, joking and on his feet at the age of 98.
