Depending on where you live, you don't have to ship it back.
I had to return something last week, and all I had to do was print out a return slip and take it to Kohl's. They have an Amazon return desk.

Once I ordered a set of wipers for the MH. When I got them they did not fit. Went to send them back and after going through the online process, the last screen said I will get my refund, but do NOT have to send the them back... So now they are sitting in the storage barn until I get bored and put them on eBay.

I'm goin' with... For 5 bucks?
I've bought plenty of stuff and then seen the price drop within days or weeks but I have never pursued any kind of refund. I shopped found what I wanted, agreed on the price, paid it and went home happy.
As far as Amazon and refunds, I have never had a problem with returns as long as they were legitimate. Couple times they said keep the item but most times they send me a shipping label and refund my money before they even get the item back.
I think Amazon is more than fair until you take advantage.

So, when I go back and look at an item I bought three weeks ago for $25 and it's now $30 should I send Amazon the five bucks I saved?

Good one!
It all evens out. I've bought items that've gone down later & I've bought items that've gone up later. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

If you think about it, Amazon has done wonderful things for the consumer.
Before Amazon put their return policy in effect, consumers that bought a widget that wasn’t as advertised, or quit working a few days after purchase, often were at the mercy of whether the vendor wanted to warranty the widget or not. And even if they did, sending it back was often more of an issue that it was worth.
This was great for the vendor and there was -0- reason for them to produce a better widget or to better their services.
But Amazon came along and make the return process so seamless that returning garbage and getting a refund is childsplay. This in turn gives the manufacture plenty of reason to better their widgets and services. Knowing that their junk was coming back, and at they were going to pay to ship that junk back as well, it didn't take long for them to realize a better product was in their best interest.
After a while, the products/services get better and the consumer benefits all around.
