Yup, I've found that to be true! I buy a lot from Amazon but I always Google for the best price!

You must have a different Amazon than I do. It's $17.96 on my Amazon.

I go out of my way to order from anywhere but Amazon when I can. Difficult to do sometimes. I have learned my local 4WD store that helped me out a couple of times have been able to provide a few things, I like going to them. They have real people in the store who love the world of 4WD and the outdoors, would rather see them employed than someone in an Amazon warehouse.

I probably should have a paper road atlas, have gotten to accustomed to Google Maps.

I was looking for replacement spigots for my 7 gal , drinking water jugs .
Found on Amazon for $8.95 CD , local store had them at $ 7.95

A week after I purchased locally , Amazon , e mailed me info about , special pricing on the product I'd viewed , $ 38.95 ! YES OVER 4X the price in a week , AND listed as special pricing .

I sent them a rather lengthy NASTY GRAM and cancelled my prime membership .

I'm sure that Wal*Mart is happy that we all have a new target. We are 20 miles from anything bigger than a Mini-Mart, Amazon has to really be higher on a price to skip home delivery.

We have choices and AMAZON isn't always mine. If it's a small low buck item, time and fuel are factored in often just buy from them. Yesterday was one of those days. I want a spare adjustable thermostat snap switch for the add on fridge fans. $15 at AMAZON, even more on eBay, $4.00 at Home Depot for the same Emerson part number though it wont be there for a few days.

Sorry everyone, I posted the wrong link. This is the correct Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/McNally-Delux...s=books&sr=1-3

I'm pretty sure Amazon does not set prices, the sellers do, but I could be wrong. Don't blame Amazon for this. God knows there's plenty of other reasons to dislike them.

I love Amazon !

No dealing with incompetent salespeople who really don't want to waste their valuable 'paid' time, dealing with you!

If using Amazon, buyer beware. Not only is the cost sometimes not competitive but you may be getting a pirated brand item.

I like Amazon too, but I do shop around on the www. If I'd rather not drive to several brick & mortar stores looking for something & wasting gas, I'll do Amazon. A lot of the time Amazon is either the same or barely higher than what I can find at nearby stores. The convenience of having the item dropped on my doorstep outweighs my time/gas going out to a store to get the same item.

Although to Ray's point, unbeknownst to me, in the throws of last year's pandemic when you couldn't find a Clorox wipe canister anywhere, Dave ordered a 6pk canister of wipes from Amazon. A few days later, I happened to be on Amazon & checked the Orders page & found it. The dang things were $80!!!!! After reading him the riot act, telling him I had 5 gallons of bleach & 3 6packs of paper towels so I could MAKE wipes, I tried to cancel the order as it had not shipped. They ignored me & shipped it anyway. So I requested a return when it arrived. I had scoured the seller's website for their return policy but couldn't find anything in detail. After I returned it the crooks charged me 90% restocking fee. I contacted Amazon per their policy on price gouging & they ignored me. I wrote a "don't buy from this vendor" review & specifically stated they were price gouging due to a global crisis. My review was removed within a few hours. Guess they have the same "vendor dispute" policy iRV2 does.
