AMAZON vs WAL MART

Over the years there have been Hundred's if not thousands of posts on Wally Mart.

Just recently I have noticed that My Amazon Prime now requires a $25.00 minimum to qualify for free shipping, -

Don't get me wrong - But - what am I paying for? Think we may look at cutting the Amazon String, I canceled the Washington Post Years Ago.

Just getting ready to order a few things and as I worked up the order the $25.00 minimum came up. Granted, Bezos needs the $$$ - - -

So I went to Wal*Mart to see how the Pricing was - First the items were Less - Second the Shipping was free and three days faster than Amazon.

Just checking, as I cannot tell you how much I have ordered from Amazon for the old Travel Supreme.

What say you Class A Group, -

I stay away from the Amazon and WalMart when possible, choosing to go to the manufacturer or smaller local distributor.

First I have prime doesn’t matter how little or much free shipping. Second prime members are 2 day shipping free so how can Walmart be 3 days faster?

This only happens to me when some of the items aren't on Prime. Not all things on Amazon are on Amazon Prime.

Amazon can be convenient. I find having the item delivered to a locker gets it there fast then home.

Also, amazon seems to have a wider selection of products, better site for reviews, alternative products and finding what I want.

x2 on buying local.... I used to appreciate the one stop shop of amazon or walmart.com, but I started seeing all of the local stores going out of business. Personally I would rather buy local when I can to keep my friends and neighbors working.

I think that's what the OP ran into. My son placed an order yesterday for less than $20 and free shipping. Any item that is shipped direct from Amazon will be free shipping, no matter the cost. Items that are shipped from other vendors may not be!

In the last 12 months Prime has turned into 5-7 days on most Prime orders - we used to get Great next Day delivery - but with Covid everything went to a week.

Glad to hear some places have still got great service - Not here in Maryland where we are 45 miles from Not One But two Warehouses.

Guess I might just call them - thanks,

Again I think the issue is it isn't an item coming from an Amazon warehouse. Things can be prime and shipping from a vendor. On those it's 2 day shipping after they ship it. I get things all the time that are coming from an Amazon warehouse with 2 day shipping and they show up the next day. Be sure to pay attention to who it ships from in addition to the prime icon.

I go direct to the manufacturer and for any reason I can't do that my backup would be Walmart... No Amazon for me!

Shop around.

Best to shop around. Usually Amazon is hard to beat in terms of selection price and convenance, but not always.

I know we all like to stick it to the man, but Amazon allows small entrepreneurs access to amazing technology and exposure for cheap. Walmart is the visible part of a post-bretton-woods world order that I'm not all that comfortable with. I used to make "amazon.org" jokes like everybody else did. But I owe bezos an apology for that. It's a brilliant business plan well executed. He earned every dollar I sent him.

Hey TampaDave, what is “ post-bretton-woods world order”? I have no idea what that means?

I have Amazon Prime but still I buy from WalMart whenever I have a chance to. WM is my first choice, Amazon 2nd.

When was the last time you boondocked in Amazon's parking lot?
