I have had so much pain prior to surgery that anything less is a blessing

Actually very little pain.......taking ONE 325mg Percocet every 6 hours seems to be right amount. Just a little discomfort WITHOUT being doped up/gumpy land

Piece of cake/..........NO
BUT well worth the effort

More annoying then anything else is the one tiny little tickle spot on the center of foot.
Like a tiny pebble in your shoe.......

How are you doing?
Why did you have to have surgery?

Should be going back to DOC soon for followup?

Best wishes on YOUR recovery

I've been amazed at how little pain I am having! I too was taking the Percoset every six hours for the first week, but now am not taking any!

I went back for my 2-week checkup a week ago today. They did X-rays and the Doc said everything looks good. Another three weeks and I will retire Roscoe and get my walking cast!

My problem started 50 years ago! In 1968 I broke both bones right above the ankle skydiving. There was only one orthopaedic surgeon around here at that time. He boogered me up good, leaving the bones overlapped making the leg about 3/4" short, and not getting my leg straight with the ankle. Over this period of time it wore out the ankle.

When I began to have a lot of pain I consulted with three doctors who all told me the same thing. To fix the ankle they would first have to re-break the leg, straighten it out with a 6-month recovery time, then fix the ankle! I told them that there was no way I was going to do that at my age!

Finally my doctor sent my X-rays to several other prominent surgeons he knew around the country and they decided that the ankle could be fused without the leg surgery, but could not be replaced. So here I am!

I fell about 15' off a ladder onto concrete back in 8/79. Broke my left foot, left wrist & dislocated left elbow. Long story short is they wanted to fuze my foot. I asked could they guarantee it would be better. No, guarantee it wouldn't be worst, No. I said I'll live with it.
Well now at 71 my left hip has pain so much that I don't notice the pain in my left foot. .
So no haven't had it fuzed but may need a new hip.

Hope your recovery goes well & quick.

Had a roof collapse with me on it
Damaged L4/L5
Disregarded back surgery for years cause it was 'no guarantee'.......STUPID

20 years later my sciatica nerve was causing so much pain I was eating Vicodin like it was candy AND was starting to loose control of muscles

Went to neurologist and first words out of his mouth....NO Guarantees
Had the surgery and then WHACK myself for waiting so long

If no other health concerns/issues no good reason to pass on surgery
No Guarantees .....but life doesn't come with guarantees

My ankle as been this way for so long & I've gotten use to the pain to me it's not worth doing anything for it. Fact is unless I have been doing alot of walking I don't even notice the pain in my ankle. I have to stop & think about the pain and yes I have it but my brain blocks it out unless it's more pain then normal. Now the hip is another story.

FED-X guy was out early
Roscoe showed up at 7AM

20 minutes later I was a scooting all around the house.

Won't need that week of training........

You ready for a race

What a simple concept that makes ALL the difference in ones mobility and ability to do for themselves.
I can now get rid of the urinals, the extra impact on Deb, etc.
I can get up..........go and fend quite well for myself.

Stopped taking ANY pain meds 2 days ago.
Slight discomfort but no real pain.

All in all...I say life is good

Catch you later....feel like taking a scoot to other side of house and back just for the heck of it

Wonderful news!

Just don't get over-confident! Better to take it slow and easy until you get used to it. If fact, take it slow and easy AFTER you get used to it!

I've had a couple of incidents that scared me but no damage. Don't really know what happened, but one time I lost my balance and was falling across the scooter. I had to put the bad ankle pretty hard on the floor to stop the fall!

Keep your hand on the brake lever any time you're moving. You never know when you will need it instantly.

I have more trouble running over my good foot than anything else!

I think getting the height of the handlebars and the knee pads right are about the most important part of the process!

Have fun!

Old Biscuit be real careful if you go outside on the scooter. I got real comfortable using mine (2 foot surgeries, 1 on each foot). Decided to go down to the beach one morning to read the paper and have some coffee. As I’m rolling down the board walk one of the front wheels hit a nail. The scooter tipped over and all 6’4” and 250lbs of me landed on the foot that just had surgery. As I feel over I also managed to take out my wife who was walking along side me. It’s funny to talk about now not so much back then when I was laying on my back seeing stars.
Hopefully you guys heal up well. I’m just finishing up physical therapy from my 2nd foot surgery and starting to feel the best I have in years.

WOW! You really learned the hard way! Those small wheels don't have to hit something big to throw you!

Did you do any damage to the foot when you took the spill?
