Any ideas please?

Does anyone know where we can get hold of a short wheel base truck, we have a Ford at the moment but think he would prefer another make and larger engine.

Is this a trick question

If not - make a search on the Internet. There are thousands of places where you can find one. Here is one random example.

With the exchange rate being what it is, maybe buying one in the US and shipping it across the pond could be an option. Bob

A frenc hman did just that a couple months ago with a new Ford 250/350 don't remember which. Said was cheaper than buying new in France even adding in shipping/customs/tail light conversion and some spare replacement parts. he had been working here in the USA and wanted the new diesel engine.

Ahhh - I didn't know that you are in the UK. That explains a lot.

I was living in London for 11 years and during that time I had a full size Ford Bronco and a large travel trailer shipped to the UK.

It is a few years ago, but what we did was that we had the vehicle put on a "roll on - roll of" ship from South Carolina to Southampton. It took an export permit from the US amongst other documents.

When we picked it up in Southampton we didn't pay any taxes or the like. This may have changed now. Tail light and indicator modifications was simple and inexpensive.

We did have problems getting it serviced and spare parts was hard to come by. There are however companies in the UK specializing in US cars. Be prepared that most parts are more expensive than you are used to (this is down to supply and demand).

Go to the local US military base, service members return to the states all the time and don't want to take their vehicle back because the bought a new one. We sold our Buick to a German couple and shipped back the Mercedes in 1993
