I fully agree to background checks for permanant situations like purchasing a mobilehome in a park, or whereas the tennant occupies a barrowed dwelling i.e. an apartment or house.
However there needs to be laws restricting what can.be obtained in said background checks for rental purposes heres why.
Background checks reveil every cohesive aspect of your entire life for just under $100 bucks or in that ballpark.
Plus it only reveals the past bad things people have done or actually got caught for I should say. Not what they are capable of doing in the present or future..
Nor does it protect you from signing up for one, pay the cost of said background check to a potential nut job.."Who passed a background check" mind you. Then to have that person "who has all your info" pay out of pocket to buy one on you.
Any comprehensive background check reveils the following information.
All your medical history. Arrest records, divorce and marital histories, court proceedings of any nature including spousal support and child support orders, house and property ownerships, liens, tax history.
Scarier yet reviels all children complete with names, dob, ssn, thier mothers names and locations listed within the DMV.
My exwife submitted a backgroung check up in portland whereas the clerk seemed to have a pedophile crush on my eldest at age 9. Long story short he used the information on the check to stalk my children and was caught peeping on all three of my daughters.
At thier house on the second story, he climbed up onto the fence then onto the garage roof.
So beware and do one first on the persons asking for one...
