IMHO....
The "Brown outs" and grid failures will be epic....

What I read is the rulling will ban the sale of natural gas-powered heaters and furnaces in homes by 2030.

Good. Reduced demand will lower the price for the rest of us. Thanks CA!

Let me get this straight. California is banning natural gas appliances, so now people will need to use electricity to heat their homes, cook and dry their clothes. The electricity is produced using heat from natural gas but the utility company loses more than half of that heat to generate the electricity and get it to the home? So now there will be twice as much natural gas being used. Makes a lot of California sense.

California had some major Earthquakes.
During the Northridge quake, many gas lines ruptured leading to further loss of property and lives.
It took me hours to help all my neighbors turn off their gas after the quake.
Seems to be a safety thing...

In New York City, you can't currently get a permit to build a building with gas heat. Other major cities seem to be following in their footsteps.
Watch for the upcoming federal bill to accomplish the same thing everywhere. It's coming.

A lot of New York City uses steam heat. A lot of that steam is created from waste heat from electricity generation. You can only do this economically if you have a dense enough population.

Nope.
When demand goes down so does profit. They'll raise price to make up for loss. When it comes to California. Nothing is what it seems.

You are welcome to live where you can have gas, but please don't knock others for chosing to be without it. That's just rude.

I can't imagine anyone who is using natural gas in their home would want to switch to electricity and double their utility bill.

If this were a matter of people making their own choices, we wouldn't need government prohibitions and permit denials.
