Can't have service records
I would like to see if any of you have herd this story. When I bought my Monaco three years ago I bought it from a private seller and got service records from day one. I have never bought from a large dealer and don't know what they can and can not do. A friend of mine is looking at a 2012 tiffin over a lazy days in central florida and he starting to get serious about this rv so he asked to see service records for the coach and was told by the salesman that they are no longer allowed to show records because it breach of the old owners privacy. I am wondering if any of you have heard of this or is this guy full of crap? I kind of know what I think but I don't want to say untill I am sure Im correct.

Yes, it is true, unless you can get the dealer to ask the previous owner for permissions. But most dealers won't bother.

Makes sense to me. I got some old service records in the RV that I bought. They show original owner's (2 before me) name, address and phone number. Not always all on the same ticket, but it's all there over the range of tickets. That's exactly the kind of information a business can't tell about their customers without risking getting into a lot of hot water, and exactly the information of yours that you wouldn't want getting out to stranger(s).

If its a Freightliner any "Owner" can receive all service records done by them from day one. As it should be. I did with No problem. Proof of ownership was required

Were you able to see previous owners information? If so, it could be a privacy thing.
I know I used to be able to track previous owners of motorcycles using state records. But that loophole was closed in Florida and North Carolina. Used to be able to look up by VIN and see all previous owners.

I get the point that people don't want to have names and phone numbers out there for whoever to see. I can't think that it would be that hard to white out there name and private information. I would have a hard time handing over a couple hundred thousand dollars and don't even know if the oils ever been changed and maybe even something a lot more serious than that.

I would think the dealer could show the service records with the previous owners name and info removed or contact them for permission. I know that for me no records would be a deal breaker.
I do understand the need to protect the PO's privacy but you are plunking down a serious amount of $ and need to protect you own interests. Unless of course the dealer wants to go completely through the coach and change all fluids, filters, belts, hoses etc. I doubt they want to do that.

Three years ago, I purchased a 2003 CRV to tow from my mechanic, who had bought it at auction. In the glove box was 5 years of receipts left by the PO. It contained his name, address, phone #. His mothers phone # was on the blue tooth radio. He had spent a great deal of money on it in 5 years. Eddie Elk.

Fine if he can't but needs a "release" from the previous owner but does not want to take the time to do so.....then time to walk away.

I call it bunk - what’s so private about the previous owners name? I would welcome someone calling me about previously owned vehicle. DMV has that information forever in their files and there are ways to access it.b
