Check out this historic RV

Charles Kellogg's 1917 "Travel Log" hewn by hand from a 22 foot section of a fallen redwood tree. Kellogg toured in it in 1918 selling Liberty Bonds and promoting the Save the Redwoods League. This beauty is parked inside the visitor center at Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The museum says it still runs and it's the largest hand hewn piece of wood in the world. They also say it's the first motorhome but I'm not sure about that claim - I think I've seen older. Click image for larger version

Really cool!! I love the natural wood interior.

Rubber on the metal rims is pretty neat too!

My gosh, look how thick the wood door and walls are in the second photo! How much does this beast weigh? I bet it has a teeny CCC.

That is real neat. Plenty of patience building that.

Yeah, how 'bout independent front suspension and Comfort Drive too.

Seriously though, I bet there were plenty of blisters hand carving that whole thing. Pretty amazing, wonder how long it took to complete?

It says he worked on it 1917-1918 but the info wasn't very detailed. Beautiful unique creation, though.

FaithBowls, here's something I saw a story about on TV last night. You may know about or have seen this up close yourself. I have seen a similar one from online search, but this one is the most famous. The owner, daughter of the man who created it, polishes the entire interior every night.

Yes I think that log house is now parked near Richardson Grove State Park. We camped across the street from it last night. Beautiful part of the world if you don't mind narrow curvy roads!
