From the article:
Quote:
Chrysler meantime is preparing to phase out many of its current models, particularly Dodge cars, the Journal said.
.
.
.
.
Marchionne, who successfully revamped Fiat, appears to be creating a vehicle lineup that stays true to Chrysler's blue-collar muscle-car and pickup roots while adding European-style vehicles to attract a new, more white-collar customer.
|
On another site, it was stated that Dodge trucks were being split out from the Dodge car organization, and the Dodge truck product would continue.

Cummins Recalls Workers to Fill Dodge Ram Engine Order
October 7, 2009 by RV Business Comments Off
Cummins Inc., Columbus, Ind., announced today (Oct. 7) that it is offering to recall approximately 270 production employees who had been laid off or transferred to other Cummins facilities over the past year in order to meet a temporary increase in orders for the Dodge Ram turbo diesel pickup truck engines made at the Columbus MidRangeEngine Plant at Walesboro, Ind.
The Dodge Ram is a common tow vehicle for RVs
The order increase comes as Chrysler seeks to build inventory for its 2010 model heavy duty Dodge Ram pickup powered by Cummins’ 6.7-liter turbo diesel engine.

Advertisements for the new 2010 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty trucks (with Cummins power) are in this month's car magazines - see Car and Driver as well as Road & Track for examples.

it's been around on the dodge forums and in the news for a week or better. RAM (trucks & suvs) will be a brand of the own. instead of a Dodge Ram, you'll have a Ram truck or a RAM Dakota for example, some SUVs are included. Dodge will focus on "affordable-performance type cars" (what-ever that means) and i think they said crysler will be a little higher end. still to be a cummins in the HD trucks. they did say no cummins for the 1500 trucks, who knows, FIAT may have a diesel motor they want to use in them.

Appears to have already happened, just watched a "RAM" truck commercial. No mention of the Dodge name.
