eBay price games ?
I'm a big eBay shopper and am happy 99% of the time with my results.
What I don't understand is occasionally I find a common item with a stupidly high price. Here's an example
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Milwaukee-4...oAAOSwbw1aLBzV
$41,524 for a 1/4 inch bit seems a little high even if it does include free shipping
Is it a case of "fat fingering " and lack of proof reading ? Or something more intriguing that I'm not privy to? Inquiring minds want to know.

I see it from time to time also, listing error.......I have to wonder when a person is not selling what he/she listed.......think they would look to see why..........

I've bought 400 items on Ebay over 10 years.
I don't do auctions any more, wastes time and I rarely get the item.
I've only had 10 items that were bad, most of the time I threaten poor feedback and get my money back.
"But It Now" is the way to go. No waiting.
Almost always cheaper than Amazon.
Never pay sales tax, 90% includes shipping.
I use Ebay to find parts I'm not sure of the description name.
Ebay probably has saved me $5000 by now, although I've bought 25 items I never used.
Except for Asian items I get everything in 2-6 days. I have left poor Feedback several times for junk, and slow delivery.
You got to read the fine print!
Most important do price checking, I've seen items doubled if I typed in a poor description.

I first ran into the ridiculous pricing on old technical books. The explanation I heard was that they were the victim of an automatic pricing bot war that compares selling prices and increases the offer to maximize profit. Essentially one bot reads a price then increases the seller price a bit to make more profit. Some other bot repeats. The first bot sees the increase and adds more. The race goes up into the ranges first mentioned. If no human checks or changes the price then the item just sits there forever. If there is a site that is constantly high I would guess that it is more likely a lazy seller who automated his site as much as possible and does not bother to monitor his sales listings. Probably whines about how poor his sales are and how bad Ebay is.

First I was thinking maybe a fat finger with a decimal point but it looks more like a bit too much eggnog. Or it could be one fantastic drill bit. Used only once by NASA the last time they serviced the Hubble Space Telescope. Still has a shaving stuck in one of the flutes.
What is really strange with the seller is the other items they have list all have unusual prices. Normally a seller will round the price to the nearest .25 cents or dollar not this one.

I wonder if it's a code for something else. They give a price for something as a code so that a buyer or seller gets information but does not reveal any true data. Example would be a kilo of dope for $41,000.
Just guessing....

Got tricked by that once in 500 on Amazon, (sub seller) dripless caulk gun for 37.30. Next week Amazon started selling it for 17.99. Didn't do my homework, think a lot of times it is buyers who have no other choice locally.
Op's looks like a software error, and laziness.
Have sold 64 things on ebay since March, 100% positive, 50% done, when you sell everything you own. Everything in life just becomes a commodity Or servicing one's consumer lifestyle.
Either way, $400 goes in the RV fund every week.
