Ever Had One Of Those "I Wonder" Moments?

Why is British Columbia called British Columbia? Has there ever been a movement to change the name or remove British from it? Don't get me wrong, I like the name and assume there is some rich heritage behind it. Just wondering....

The province's name was chosen by Queen Victoria in 1858, reflecting its origins as the British remainder of the Columbia District of the Hudson's Bay Company.

Did you ever wonder why it's called Sham-poo? It doesn't look like real poo, so why is it "Sham" poo?

Why is it when someone is sick it is said they are failing, but when they die it is said they've passed?

One of my mental quandries is found often in the sports pages.

The coach had a bad season and was forced to "resign."

The team was able to "re-sign" their best player.

So we add a hyphen and basically reverse the meaning.

So how did French Lick Indiana get its name?
And then there are those towns in PA. Probably don't want to go there though.

Over time, many have wondered about many things.

Why do we park in the driveway and drive on the parkway.

Here is a ton more:
