Hello, I am trying to find some things to do with my grandkids ages 7,10,12 in the Florida Keys July 2022. I would be thankful for any suggestions. We are going to be staying in Marathon at Jolly Roger RV Resort Thank you.

Their webpage says they are.....
"Next door to the Dolphin Research Center, where you can swim with the dolphins!"
That sounds like some the kids would enjoy!

Plenty to do : https://jrtp.com/attractions-activities/
Be water safe! Don’t fish where people swim. Watch for boats and jet skis, hike along that shallow water edge and look for fish vertebrae, stuff that washed up.
But you could also buy some cheap rods, a bobber and hook buy some LIVE shrimp and float the shrimp on any clean water. Always something to catch! Most likely a small barracuda, snapper and grunts.
Are they good swimmers? Buy a cheap set of mask and fins and get in the water. Watch for sea urchins.
Or buy three cheap blow up floats and get in the water.
But this not the place to let kids run unsupervised. If you are unsure about the water you will have to get guides for fun.

Take their phones and games away from them as you get south of Homestead so they have to watch the spectacular water scenery.

In Marathron you have the Aquaium at the Vaca Cut bridge rightside , touch tank , a reef tank and if old enough they can feed sharks underwater thru a glass divider . The Turtle Hospital , learn all about turtles and their recovery . Sunset Grill for sunsets ,they have a pool ,at 7 mile bridge . Fargo Blanco at 4:00 as the charter boat come in , drinks for adults great bar ,they have a pool too. Pigeon Key ,boat ride to island to see how railroad was built and crew lived . 1/2 day fishing on the Marathon Lady.

We stay at the Jolly Roger every February and it is a wonderful park.
The swimming is excellent, bring water shoes and floating loungers, the Dolphin Centre and Turtle Hospital are both nearby.
You also have Sombrero Beach in Marathon, a day trip to Key West, fishing on the Marathon Lady and from the bridges.
It's a safe place for the kids to ride their bikes around the park.
Just over the Seven Mile Bridge in Big Pine Key and see the Tiny Deer running wild through the neighbourhood, and there is a weekend Flea Market there.
Enjoy the Iguanas.

We stay at the Jolly Roger every February and it is a wonderful park.
If you can, get a site on the Seawall, smaller sites but the best views.
The park has nice pool and a large Tiki Hut where the kids can spent some time.

You also have Sombrero Beach in Marathon, a day trip to Key West, ½ day fishing on the Marathon Lady, and from the bridges.
It's a safe place for the kids to ride their bikes around the park, but not on the highway.

Enjoy the Iguanas.

John Pellencamp park in Key Largo. It’s an underwater National park! Glass boat rides, museum. We usually stay in Islamorada, Marathon is right next door! Deer Key has great hiking nature trails. The deer are plentiful and are more like big dogs than deer.. Robbie’s Marina Islamorada at MM 77. You can hand feed Tarpon from the docks. Super fun and kitchey place . The Gulf Stream bisects the Keys there. Amazing fishing and no need to go offshore cause you are already there. GREAT food at Islamorada Fish House. Dining on top of the water. Awesome sunsets and they have fire dancing after dark. Eat dinner and stay for a show. Sloppy Joes in Key West. Don’t miss Dry Tortougas National Park. It’s a chain of islands about 70 miles by water only. Unbelievable views. Worth the money. Ernest Hemingway home in Key West. Southernmost point in the USA, the Main Street (Duval) gets pretty wild at times after about 7 pm you never know what you’ll see. Last thing, right before the 7 mile bridge (which is just the most beautiful bridge you will ever see) there is part of the old bridge that you can park and walk out on the old bridge. The helicopter scene in the movie True Lies was filmed at that spot. Arnold Schwarzenegger holding onto Jamie Lee Curtis’ arm while flying over that bridge… have fun. We have been to the Keys many times and even rode there from Northern Ohio on our motorcycle

I wonder, is there still a floral garden inside the old fort at Key West? I recall visiting that when I was a kid.
I spent several days swimming at Pennekamp State Park back then. They had (maybe still have) a section of ocean enclosed by berm to keep out the sharks and stuff. Great spot for kids. They also had a trail with boardwalk through the mangroves, and one could see the fish close up among the mangrove roots.
