I've posted this several times over the years. While in Thermopolis, WY (1997 I think) I saw a man drive under an RR bridge, the A/C hit. He stopped, backed up, and tried again, only this time he hit it and kept going. The A/C unit was pushed back about 3', which left a gaping hole. He never stopped, he was bound and determined to get to the Buffalo Bill State Park with his 5er.

A friend of mine backed his new 5th wheel into his new building only to find out the hard way it didn't fit. $10k + later 5er and building was fixed.

Happened to my step-dad 30 years ago, in a '88 Jamboree class-c. My mom could not sleep at a noisy RV park one night, and insisted my step-dad wake up and move the RV, at 2 in the morning.
Needless to say, my step-dad was peeved. They drove down a dark road which ended at a nursing home with a portico. With no way to turn around, he drive on hitting the A/C. In his 2:30 AM frustration, and figuring the A/C was ruined anyway, he gunned it. The A/C rolled back, causing significant roof damage, and landed on the asphalt.
They got out and knocked on the doors, but no one came out. They left a note, and drove away. They came back the next morning around 8AM, greeted by the local Sheriff. Luckily they left a note, and all was well in the end.

Signage states 12'4" ----- not sure why it is with the 11'8" club

Crash #158 LOL

That is prime example of NOT KNOWING Actual height by measuring with trailer connected vs some MFG published number
PLUS paying attention to signage

Was at a CG in NH/VT? which CLEARLY/BOLDLY stated on website to NOT use such and such route that many GPS recommended due to LOW BRIDGE CLEARANCE

Guy came in alone towing 5th wheel with A/C Unit missing
To hitch/unhitch he needed to open his tail gate
SO he opened it....unhitched and then for some reason backed back in under king pin at an angle and torn up the front compartment door with the corner of open tailgate
He was NOT having a good day.....or week when his wife showed up couple days later
Triple OUCH!!! (A/C, Compartment door---explaining to wife)

In the Schenectady, NY area there are way too many low underpasses that have claimed way too many 13'6" trucks and RVs. Unfortunately, the state or county can't do anything as it is railroad property and they evidently have more power then local folks and have refused to correct the problem, which is most likely why that 11'8" sign will keep being ignored and the bridge claiming victims

We were at NY State Adirondack touristy spot a few years back and saw the remnants of someone finding a too low underpass with his MH. The parking lot is low with the road above it and could see yje remnants of both a/cs that were still scattered on the roof

The bridge was raised up 8 inches earlier this year.

We live 30 minutes from that bridge and one daughter lives 5 minutes from it. They have height sensors that trigger the red light and a big honking sign that says "you must turn over height" Does no good. A guy that lives at that corner has a YouTube channel as do several others.
The chaos chronicles the changes over the years also. Train track above already raised as much as possible and sewer pipe below prohibit further changes.

This is the one that fascinates me, The guy hit the beam, apparently knows it(?). He backs up and then floors it to finish the roof lobotomy.
